Yeah, the first one got closed by a rap music discussion and the other one by COD.

The rap thing I didn't get, I don't know what people's problem is. Too offended by the cusses? Don't listen to it then! Ugh people are sometimes too immature on here.

Well, of course we don't listen to it. The problem is that some people do. And those people don't always carry headphones/earbuds, and they don't really care about people around them. And, I, for one, am fond of my good sense of hearing. But that's not the point.

It was originally about how someone believed that pre-uh... contemporary-era, I guess, music was underrated. Which it is (especially Renaissance through Romantic period music. And certain types of modern music, I guess. Most music that doesn't contain lyrics is actually pretty good. No seriously.). Except said person chose to let his/her feelings about modern music get in the way of his/her point. People took it as an attack on rap music/music with swearing. Are we clear now?

Haha, I just found a straw man fallacy.

Gosh, I love this. You're assuming people are stubbornly pressing generic arguments. Come on, that doesn't have to be the only reason people don't like it. It might actually be terrible (I wouldn't know).

Re: The Underrated Topic

We have a Marantz cassette tape player hooked up to huge Bose speakers. Kinda counterintuitive, considering that lesser quality amp+speakers would create similar audio quality with tapes anyway.

Most of our tapes are stretched... but here's a tip: Leave them in the freezer for about half an hour, and they sound like new  big_smile

How would it be an example of the straw man fallacy if that's like 90% of what the argument against it on that thread was?

I believe he's talking about people who blast rap from their cars and other things of the like.
I kind of think that that's valid against any music, though; people who don't like, for example, rock would have to put up with rock being played all over the place. Why's rap any different?

it's great that the previous threads were closed for arguing about these topics so naturally the ever logical community of scratch.mit.edu decides to start another argument

weirdly, I don't remember ever actually watching brandy and mr. whiskers, I just remember the online games.

Oh, and another underrated thing is all those PC Spongebob games.
SO FUN. Yet my computer's old now, so I can't play them as often.

If you want something to do while Scratch is down, check out tbgs.tk! It's the new version of the (closed) Scratch TBGS, run by Scratchers! I'm going to spend most of my time there, anyway.

underrated  past participle, past tense of un·der·rate
Verb
Underestimate the extent, value, or importance of (someone or something): "a very underrated film".

i dunno about you but kim possible had (has?) a pretty huge following
it's not underrated, it's just that, you know, it's from 2007

It did? Oh wow wasn't aware of that.

I loved it, but most I knew just stereotyped it and passed it off as a "girl's show".
