actually, gneiss can vary greatly in hardness since it can be made of different things, kind of like breccia or conglomerate. iolite is super underappreciated but i like it  smile

anyway i've already mentioned cadmium... gotta love that red!!

That's metal?
If it is, it's none of their songs I heard.

I'm not a big fan of metal. The only thing metal on my iPod is Bon Jovi.

It's not really it's more of hard rock (they're different things).

I'd say AC/DC is metal, but most of their songs have nothing to do with depressing themes,

Disturbed, on the other hand...  tongue

wait since when is ac/dc or bon jovi metal though.

anyway, metal isn't usual sad or depressing, its usually angry or like defiant?

It all depends on how exactly are you defining "Metal" as a music genre. I wouldn't consider them metal bands, either. AC/DC, in particular, has always considered themselves just raw rock'n'roll.  wink

The Wikipedia article about Heavy Metal music defines it as massive, loud music with dark lyrics. That's pretty much my definition, too  tongue  Hence, as neither AC/DC's or Bon Jovi's lyrics tend to have dark themes, I merely consider them hard rock.

I'd consider Skillet metal sometimes, and they don't have dark lyrics.

I consider "sad" themes to be classifiable as "dark" ones.

So if you sang a song about how you stubbed your toe, for instance, it would be a dark theme?

I was running down a hill
Running from a kill
I just wanted to go
TO GO!

Before I reached a block
I had reached a rock
Against which I stubbed my toe
MY $#@#$%$ TOE!!!

The blood isn't gushing
But my heart is pushing
To gain
To cause my brain
AS MUCH PAIN

maybe you're glad you stubbed your toe because at the nurses office, you met a girl you like and then you grow up dating and then you get married and grow old together and shes sad when you die first

Dangit it turns into a sad song

Dangit it turns into a sad song

*sing to a slow tune like One*

I hurt my toe
I had to go
To the doctor's
To get it checked

On the bed I lay
After an X-ray
It turns out
It was wrecked

I sighed
Nearly cried
After itchy casts
A complete "meh"

After the Doctor did disperse
In came the nurse
And I was like
AAWWW YEAHHH

*fast glam metal*
I asked her out
On a date
She said yes
I said great
I could not believe my luck

We went for dinner
Cuz that's the norm
We went for a walk
Until it started to storm
So I took her home
And *you get where this is going*

*insert vulgar rhymes that i can think of but won't post for sake of humanity*

*slow song again*

On my deathbed I lay
With only few more words to say
I whispered a final
"I love you"

I looked up with my eyes gleaming
To see my wife standing there screaming
"IF YOU DIE NOW I SWEAR
I'M GONNA SHOVE YOU--" *feel free to imagine what happens next*
