you should add a dog or 2 running around and a few bones in your inventory and a bow and some arrows. also a pig or a chicken to kill and it will drop food. and a creeper running around.

How about:
If you mine a TNT, you will receive a creepy alert "STEVE IMPENDING DOOM" in Unown letters or dynamite or blood, and the TNT will explode after 10 beats, taking out 3/4 of your HP and 1 Food thing?
The only way you can pick up TNT is using a pickup mechanic or the alert goes off and you run like heck?
Minecraftmon? (e.g. you have 6 pet capsules, you can drop them off at your house and you can put a tame animal in each and take them out/put them in?)

Achievements! People always feel rewarded when they unlock something, especially if it's silly and completely pointless to the actual game.
Also, try to make them all scratch themed.
