Every time we see Spongebob naked he gets covered by a plant or something.

Or they never go into the *ahem* details when they show them naked.

Actually, they have shown Spongebob completely naked before, and that doesn't really matter because he is a sponge and reproduces by budding. There is nothing to show.

Doesn't he even bud at one point?

Yeah, a bunch of times. It was the episode Pressure. Specifically, he says "Can you reproduce by budding?" and then reproduces.

This topic serves no purpose
This is a site aimed at the exact children these jokes are going over the heads of so it's not like you can discuss them beyond the first letter of ones where a swear gets cut off.

Just go on tvtropes and look under radar if you really want to read these.

Yeah but most of the people on these forums are something between 11 and 14 so most people that age would get the joke already. It's not like this site is solely composed of 8 year olds.

I'm surprised they mentioned nothing about Toy Story, that's littered with in-jokes.

Re: Hidden Humor In Children's Entertainment

The trope itself is mentioned on the Toy Story page, but there weren't enough to warrant a mention on the trope.

edit: Actually, it's listed under Pixar in general.

In-jokes are more "Parental Bonus" there

They did get a bunch of awesome jokes though.

"What do you say I get someone ELSE to watch the sheep tonight?"
"The word I'm looking for, I can't say, because there's preschool toys present."
"It's too short! WE NEED MORE MONKEYS!" (that's like my motto)

Oh can't forget this one:

"And I'm from Mattel. Well, I'm not actually from Mattel, I'm from a smaller company that was purchased in a leverage buyout."

It's wierd that we're talking about this because I literally JUST learned all this in Science.

What grade are you in anyway, I learned it quite recently actually (about hydras and other things anyway, I knew about sponges long before).

same here
should we alter the clownfish's DNA so Marlin doesn't turn female to...ahem...repopulate the clownfish colony with Nemo???
i mean, he does lose it the same way neutering makes animals lose

First of all, I'm in Elementary school. Second of all, I'm not a dewd or dude, for that matter. Third of all, Why the heck are we talking about sponge parents? Derp, it has nothing to do with Hidden Humor in Children's Entertainment!
