Imported sounds are distorted

I have been trying to import some homemade sounds into Scratch and i'm experiencing a problem with sound distortion.

The original files were .AAC but i converted them into .mp3 so that Scratch could see them. When i import into a project they play with a terrible high pitched whiney distortion added. The whine is not present when playing the same .mp3 files in a music player.

I read that Scratch is fussy with .mp3 files so i converted to .WAV but the exact same problem still occurs.

Could any kind soul suggest a way to make these files usable for me?

Many thanks.

Re: Imported sounds are distorted

If you recorded them with your own microphone then it's probably the microphone.
If not, try recording them in a program like Audacity and save them directly as MP3s or WAVs instead of converting.
