Re: I'm new

Well, welcome to Scratch. I hope you have a nice time using the program, considering Scratch 2.0 is public at beta.scratch.mit.edu. Anyway, you wanted some tips, and I'll give you some:

1.) Play around with the program. You'll get better and more fluent with the program.

2.) Take inspiration from good Scratch projects. When I say good, I say FORGET the stuff that's home-paged today. That stuff is NOWHERE NEAR as great as projects a few years ago. So here's a list of some of the best users you should take inspiration from: Astro947, 08Jackt, swifty2,  RHY3756547, and jonzo.

3.) Try to come up with original content instead of remixing, or even worse, copying. I know the Scratch Team is encouraging remixing, but most of the time, remixing produces bad results. Trust me, I've been here for 2 years now.

4.) If you're going to remix, create an alternate account for that.

5.) If you're going to criticize someone, do it constructively.

Example:
Good project. But there are some flaws I would like to point out to you, like (insert more text here)

WHAT NOT TO DO:
I HATE THIS PROJECT! THIS IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!1

Well, I hope this helps.

Scratch 2.0 makes Scratch 1.4 look like it was made by a bunch of cavemen. Hey, wait a second....

Very helpful, some things I'd like to say.

Program.  I'm assuming you're here to do that, so do so.  Don't get drawn into other side things on Scratch except foruming ( tongue ).

Remixing is fine.  Just don't copy, and always give credit.  I've been making a series of remixes off of zubblewu's platformer engine.  No problem in that.   smile

Here is a (great) guide (made by me  tongue ) to help you:  http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=111054
