Decorating Help

Hey guys, I'm needing some help decorating my room.

I'm into writing, and it's always been my dream to have a very literary room. A literary room has a dark wooden desk, bookshelves lined with big volumes, and maybe a lamp or two with dark shades. There would also be a dusty old typewriter in the corner. The room has an ambience like the one reflected in this song.

However, that's all I have. Does anyone know of any other decorations or decorating ideas that would be conducive to a room with a literary feel?

Thanks so much!

Re: Decorating Help

You seem to have things figured out.

Maybe get "special edition" versions of your favorite books for the shelves? They tend to be fancier looking. We have special editions of the first two Harry Potte books at my house.

I wouldn't want any room to have an ambience similar to a song with a minor key, personally.

Frame book covers?  tongue  I don't know.
Ink and quill?

Or just write all over the walls yourself.

Re: Decorating Help

Does the room you've planned have dark hardwood floors?
The lamps should be goosenecks. Get rid of the overhead light (if it's there), and man, don't put a typewriter in the corner. Just have paper on the desk, it's how people actually write well. Maybe a music player of your choice somewhere in the room? I find that classical music actually helps me write.

The typewriter is moe to set a mood than to actually be used. I'm going to write on my computer.

No, don't write on your computer!

Re: Decorating Help

Different things work for different people though, I [usually] tend to write better on the computer than with pen and paper
