Reading text aloud, in your head or not, is exactly what one shouldn't do to read fast. It's a weird thing - instead of reading a text and interpreting the resulting speech, one directly interprets the text. That's how it works for me, at least c:

I think that makes a lot of sense. Although sometimes, I go too fast, and have to go back and read again.
lol that happens to me too D: There are times where I've had to read like 5 times in comprehension tests.
