My highly speculative headcanon-y guess:

Twilight will be coronated Princess of Somethinglandia by her mentor Princess Celestia, deciding her studies of the magic of friendship are already done or something, and immediately made alicorn after.

But then she'll realize she will have to live far away from her friends to perform her princess duties, and be like "nuuuu I don't wana lose my friends celostia pls no :'c"

Princess Twilight Sparkle will then realize that her friends will always be more important than any achievement she may obtain, academic or otherwise. She then decides to drop her title of Princess of Somethinglandia, in favor of her Ponyville friends. Celestia is like "ogm twalot u lern all about friendchips!1 ur col" and turns her back into the unicorn she was.

Twilight has found her destiny, just as the Hub commercial implied.

One problem with this: If the main character has already found her destiny and possibly ended her mission of studying and understanding friendship, MLP:FiM may as well end right after this episode. >.>

Well, investment logs show that the studio's been paid for season 4, and I do hope that she's a unicorn by the end of it because I honestly don't see myself watching 30 minutes of an alicorn doing stuff, as weird as that sounds.

I think they're using this whole "it's magic, I don't have to explain" too much, magic's really stretched a lot.

Great to hear S4 is confirmed c: Yeah, the show would get quite boring with the already Mary Sue-y main character also being able to use magic with absolutely no limits.

So, apparently, Alisparkle is an official thing and is here to stay for the rest of the show. "Worst [poop]storm in the fandom since Derpygate", said a fellow commentator in EqD.

I'm sure the show writers and editors know what they're doing - they'll figure out how to keep MLP:FiM true to it's focus in lessons about friendship.
