My friends have had that stuff happen before. I was on Facebook last night and some guy (I  don't even remember what he looks like) starting sending me weird messages and he said he wanted photos of me naked... I was actually telling my friend about it while I was getting those messages. He tried messaging me again, so I blocked him.  tongue

Recently, I was on Facebook, and I got a notification. Interested, I opened my notifications bar, and it said that one of my friends joined the group I "made" called "Click here to get the Facebook dislike button!"

Of course, I had never made the group, so I deleted it and did a full scan of my computer to try and find any sort of virus. Then I changed my password, and noticed that I had the extension "Facebook dislike button" installed on my Chrome. So I deleted that, too, and from then on I was careful about what sites I visited.

I installed that dislike button before. It puts ads everywhere on Facebook and makes it really slow.

Check for an extention called Yontoo- even if you have adblock it add ads everywhere on a layer above the site or something
If you use Chrome go to the Three lines in to the top right corner
Click "View background pages"
Look for Yontoo or ereally anytihng you or anyone else didnt intentionally install
if its not there, youre good
if it is, click it then click end program
it will say 'yontoo has crashed' in the bottom right corner
ignore that

the sun still shines

Re: E-Mail frauds and urban legends...

A supershort story.

I was using the Minecraft wiki, learning how to create a multiplayer server. (I was using a mac) I didn't know much about computer code, and had no idea what Terminal was. I was told to open Terminal and enter some code/mumbo-jumbo. I eventually had to ask my dad for help on what to do.
He looked at the screen, and started asking questions- "did you open terminal? Did you change the wifi password?" I answered yes, because it told me to. (Remember that- we have a password nobody else knows.)

I felt like an imbecile.

My dad started looking around some more, and his face became a mix of worry and anger. He said something that terrified me.

"Look here. It seems our Wi-Fi is in use by someone else."

EPILOGUE

My dad had to wipe ALL the information off our computer. Now our computer seems more like an empty shell than a fun tool.  yikes

The worst thing, they are also top comments.
And even though I know they're fake, I can't help but read those PLEASE DON'T READ THIS BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY WORKS things.
