I am a big fan of the pokemon series- I have played 2 of the mainstream games (Soulsilver and Diamond) and enjoyed them a lot.
My friend recently got Pokemon MD Explorers of Sky and is preaching (not literally, of course ) about them to me. I have never owned any mystery dungeon games, pokemon or otherwise. So here's the question; should I get PMD Explorers of sky?
I am reasonably intrested- but none of the reviews really influence me. Right now, I'm about 50/50...
Reliable reviews wanted! Thanks!

YES! I enjoyed them more than the main games. I only ever beat Explorers of Time, but Sky has even more amazing features. The plot has shocking twists and turns, and emotionally powerful moments. The gameplay itself is... difficult. It took me many, many months to defeat the final boss. And after you beat the game... There's a SECOND storyline to play through. That's what I like to call bang for your buck!

Yeah they're pretty fun, not as much as the main games, but I absolutely loved Explorers of Darkness.
But if you have a 3DS you should probably wait, since there'll be a new PMD game (Gates to Infinity).

I 'only' have a dsi... What is it with all the 3ds games?

Well, considering it's now Nintendo's main handheld console now, it's reasonable why they would release it onto the 3DS.
Also, instead of Explorers of Sky, you should try to get Red Rescue Team. It's older, but I thought it was TONS better than Explorers.

Red Rescue Team was a GBA game. If you don't have that, get Blue Rescue Team, it's pretty much the same thing.
Also I never actually had a DSi, I've been using my good ol' crimson DS lite all these years. Might get a 3DS soon, though.

As reflected in the reviews, the biggest problem with Mystery Dungeon is that it gets pretty repetitive as it goes on. Regardless, it still is pretty fun for all it's worth, has a great story, and an AWESOME soundtrack. I wouldn't necessarily say they're great games, and yeah I'd prefer the main series Pokemon games and Pokemon Conquest to them, but I still recommend Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness to anyone who's a fan of RPGs, Dungeon Crawlers, or Pokemon in general.

Oops. Yeah, BLUE Rescue Team.
That's what I meant.

Personally, I'd say not to get Blue Rescue Team and get Explorers instead. In my opinion, Blue Rescue Team really doesn't have much of a story to it, it's just about the adventures of a human who somehow became a Pokemon and searching for as to why. Explorers on the other hand has a really touching story about saving the world from a dark future. Also the soundtrack on Explorers is much better. There is also more Pokemon, more dungeons, including some more you can get from wi-fi, an overall tougher game, and in general more content.
...Of course you could wait for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity, which will be out in about 2 months from now for the 3DS.

Here's why I think Blue Rescue Team is better:
More Item Storage Space straight from the get-go
Challenging, yet a bit easier
Easier Evolution
Ability to change the leader of your team outside of dungeons
A more in-depth storyline with more twists
A team base that looks like your starter Pokemon (It looks like your starter later in the game.)
Different dialouge depending on your Partner. (Meaning not the same dialouge every time.)

It's not just why, he has to save the world on multiple occasions as well!
