This year Nintendo celebrates the Famicom (Nintendo Entertainment System in US)'s 30th anniversary! With it, Nintendo is launching Virtual Console for the Wii U. During a 7-month period, Nintendo is releasing the first Virtual Console games for the Wii U- for 30 cents each! Benefits to getting these games is that A) HD, B) Save files "Restore Points" C)Off-tv gameplay, D) Miiverse. Later in the year Virtual Console games will include GBA games as well! (Small woot-woot! Maybe Pokemon Firered :3) More info here.

Not if Nintendo isn't making money off of them anymore. They may be now with some games on Virtual Console, but other than that, it's fine. I only use emulators for GB and GBA, mainly. I also play Genesis and Super Nintendo sometimes, though.
Also, nice try Nintendo, but I'm still not buying a Wii U.

Morally, perhaps, but they're still under copyright so it's still illegal.

Yes but it's not like the cops are going to come bashing down my door and hauling me away to the slammer just because I played Pokemon Red on my laptop. :P
Ah let's just end this emulator thing.
But anyways, this Virtual Console thing doesn't seem like "OH MAN FAMICOM GAMEZ ON WII U HOLY * I GOTTA BUY ONE HERES MY 350 BUCKAROOS NINTENDOOOH" to me. Really.
Virtual Console isn't going to make me buy the 3DS either. Put some GBA games on there, then we'll talk.

What veggie said, and also they'll be selling GBA games again so...
And just because you're fine with it doesn't mean everyone else is.

Dude I already said "Let's end this emulator thing". Besides it's not like I don't have Pokemon FireRed or Emerald, or even Blue and Silver and Crystal, in physical copies. (FireRed I've had for as long as I can remember).

Huh. Famicom games in HD? I suppose there isn't much difference between playing a 340x262 px videogame in an HD display, and playing the same game in a regular low-quality display, is there?

I still wouldn't buy it in that case, considering I *have* a GBA

That looks more like 341x262 for NTSC

Yeah, the games aren't really HD. They're still the same as the orignals.

It's just not really HD, just playing on a Wii U makes the pixels more visible on their own.

Seems like we're both wrong - the actual processed screen is another (standard) size altogether:
that page I linked to wrote:
The logical screen resolution processed by the PPU is 256x240 pixels. However the visible screen resolution is somewhat smaller, due to improper blanking periods, and eventually due to exceeding the physical dimensions of (NTSC) displays.
(in NTSC it does a weird thing, alternating between 340 and 341 dots )

Yeah me too, I just think it'd be awesome if GBA was on virtual console. Either that if I could load a GBA emulator onto it then that would be even awesomer. Of course I'll only be emulating the games I owned, and I think half of them are lost now.

Did ANYONE look at the main post? In spring, they'll release GBA virtual console for Wii U.
