Copyright Details SC please!

Hey Scratch Team, I need to know about your copyright details. A few friends and I want to make a very detailed game with scratch, and post it publicly on a website. We will not claim it as ours. We also are considering trying to make a profit.

1. Is it okay to post the game publicly? (Export)
2. Can we sell the game? (My guess is no)
3. Can we make a profit by selling things to improve the gameplay?

Thanks!

Re: Copyright Details SC please!

i think it's ok just as long as you don't upload the project to the scratch website.

I would need the export code to export it. (which is found when  uploaded)
Maybe i can upload then delete but keep the export?

Ex: $5 for VIP mode, which gives you better weapons

If you upload it, use the code, and delete it, the code breaks.  I was thinking about that problem earlier.   tongue

Re: Copyright Details SC please!

scratch is under Creative Commons so lets go through this-
Can I post the game publicly? -Yes, I believe so. You can actually use code directly from the page of the project to embed it into your website i think
You cannot sell the project, and i dont believe you can sell things to improve the gameplay either.
Really i think it depends on you implement the extra things

1. Yes
2. Yes, I think
3. I think you should if you can sell it but I don't see how you can connect Paypal or credit cards to scratch...

1) Yes.
2) Yes, as long as you don't upload it to the Scratch Website first.
3) Same as 2).

Re: Copyright Details SC please!

As sci said, the license only applies to a project once you have uploaded it to the scratch website and the license applies to the scratch program itself.

If you never upload it to the Scratch site, you can choose your own license.

Besides that, the licence only applies to the copy present on the Scratch website and its downloads -- any other copies can be licensed as wished. So you actually can upload it to Scratch, but it's pointless if you're going to try ot make money off it because anyone can access it for free on Scratch.

Re: Copyright Details SC please!

But to my understanding, you can't make money without your own patent or license, at least I think so...
