Automatic Delete Accounts not meeting certain criteria

Some accounts that have been created aren't being used for anything. They don't make comments, make/upload projects, or use their account in any way. It would be nice if the ST could automatically delete these accounts so other users can use those usernames. Also, accounts that only spam I think should automatically be deleted if they don't do anything else. The ST would send an Email to the Email used to register the account and if they don't respond or respond "Delete my account." then the account would be deleted. If they respond "Don't delete my account." but then don't come on at all, another Email should be sent saying the same thing and also mentioning if they don't come on within a certain amount of time within responding or don't respond, then their account is deleted.

Well, some people might become inactive but then come back to see that their account was deleted (they might have used a fake email or something), and, really, when you delete an account, then you don't even free up the username.

Re: Automatic Delete Accounts not meeting certain criteria

this has been suggested before and the answer has been no. accounts shouldn't be deleted even if they are inactive, and lots of people used to just have an account to play projects in flash (now that that's the default player that doesn't happen) and lots had to do it for school and stuff, many had an account just for downloading projects.

if they don't check that email account anymore then they'll just find their account deleted. as far as i'm aware accounts that spam are IP banned (or maybe just banned) but i think as what mokat said, deleting an account doesn't make the username available. some scratchers might get mixed up and think that the new user with the same username as an account that got deleted were the same person, that could cause problems too.

Absolutely not. Suppose you made an account a few years ago and never used it, then decide to try using this website a few years later only to find your account has been deleted. No.

Re: Automatic Delete Accounts not meeting certain criteria

Bad idea. What if somebody made an account right when they found out about scratch. Then they start making thier first project. When they're done,, they want to share it, right? Well they can't because thier account is deleted. ;(
