I may somehow be wrong but I believe that a great majority of you have started a collaboration. It had a good goal and a good setup, and you knew what you wanted... but you just couldn't find enough good people to form a functional collaboration that actually accomplished stuff.
There are a number of different reasons a co-op member is ineffective. Most common are perhaps:
1. Sorry, I just can't do much cause I've joined 10 other collaborations already. (They may do a little here and there or offer advice, but don't really do a whole lot)
2. ... ... ... (they're never on or involved in your collab)
.3 How do I make it where if a sprite touches another sprite it changes its color? (Simply inexperienced scratchers)
.4 Hmm, who? Me? Yah, I just like to watch others make the projects while I watch . (perhaps not so common, but I've seen it before)
.127+++ These are all the "other" unique reasons.
Please understand that my intention is not to stab insults into the hearts of those who have done some of the things on this list, these are simply examples.
Anyways, my idea is to try to eliminate at least some of these factors by establishing an application center where available collabers can sign an application to be added to the list.
What is the list? Well, it will be a dictionary of sorts, basically, all collab owners will be able to browse down this list to look for available scratchers. If you are a scratcher who wants to get on this list, all you have to do is submit an application by following this process:
.1 Name
.2 Class(s) (Do you do: Code, Graphics/Art, Sound, Gameplay, Storyline etc.)
.3 Experience (On a scale of 1-10 how good are you at your Class(s), be honest)
.4 Number of Collabs (How many collabs are you involved in?)
.5 Avg. time each day/Avg. time on collab (How much do you spend time do you spend each day on scratch and how much time is spent on ONE collab)
If you want a scratcher to work/help on your collab, you will also have to submit an application for that person like this:
.1 The Name of the Scratcher
.2 Your Collab Name
.3 You Collab Goal
.4 Expectations
.5 Notes (Optional)
Once you've done this the scratcher will be notified of the opportunity. If he or she accepts you HAVE to tell us so that I can update that scratcher's profile.
That is where my job ends and yours begins.
Final Notes
If you want to update your current status yourself, just submit the application again and your info will be updated.
I hope that this will be a successful operation, but if it isn't that's ok. It's worth a try, and if you want to help out, just ask.
