New accounts not accessible — some anti-spam measure?

This afternoon I created 8 new accounts in quick succession, logging out of each immediately after creating it. It's for a new coding club in a school, and I wanted one account per child.

Each account was apparently created successfully (and if I try to create a new account with the same name now, I'm told that the name is already taken).

However, we can't access any of the accounts! We keep getting told that the username/password combination is invalid.

I've tried the "forgotten password" link to, but 25 minutes later, no emails have turned up.

Is this a known issue? Was I assumed to be a spammer because I created lots of accounts, one immediately after the other? Any suggestions please? Thanks in advance.

Maybe you had caps lock or keyboard-numpads enabled?  hmm

No, if this were anti-spam, they would tell you. For "forgot password", did you check the spam box?

No, I've checked all the obvious things — caps lock not on (and it wasn't when I created the accounts either!), spambox is empty, and a couple of hours later I'm still waiting for all 8 password recovery messages.

Are there any Scratch admin people reading this? If you are able to look for 8 accounts, all with usernames starting `CIS-', created around 14:00 GMT+0 today (2013-01-18), I'd love to know what the problem is. I'd love to get all the kids fiddling with their projects at home this week too! Thanks very much in advance.

Hmm maybe your typing the wrong password.

I am.  wink

However, I took a look through your network, and don't see any of these 8 accounts that you created. Did you create the names through a different network other than the ones you use to access Scratch?

You might want to try e-mailing the Scratch Team directly about the issue.

Ah, cool. Thanks for your time.

When you say "a different network", are you talking about my ISP, or something to do with Scratch? If it helps, I was at home, as I am now, where my ISP is Virgin Media (in the UK). We tried unsuccessfully to access the accounts at school — not sure of the ISP there — but I have also tried again from home, and failed.

I've realised that *one* of the accounts is working properly (username CIS-nikita). There's a bunch of others, including for example CIS-tristan, where the username exists, but I can't get access to the account, and can't get a password reminder email either.

You might want to try e-mailing the Scratch Team directly about the issue.

Thanks for the tip, I'll do that now.
