Re: Questions on Chromebooks...

1 & 2. Your choice. It really depends what you want to do with it.
3. Yes.
4. It has the internet, which has games which may or may not be fun depending on what you like.
5. As far as I know, yes.
6. You can do whatever you want with it without any extra cost as long as what you want doesn't cost anything.
7. There is a free version of Angry Birds, but I don't think it's the full version.
8. Assuming it's on the Chrome Web Store, probably. Example?
9. Boot up speed and browsing are, if I remember correctly, faster, mainly because it only runs the web browser program which is quite lightweight. However, the Chromebook is a lot less versatile than Apple laptops and can only do things on the internet as well as a few other things.

2. Probably not.
2. Maybe
3. Yes
4. Online games, yes, but not really. Unless you count Angry Birds on the chrome store...
5. Don't think so, since it's completely based around the browser.
6. Yes.
7. Yes, but I think you have to be connected to the internet.
8. I don't think there are 'real' 3D games on the Chrome store.
9. It's possible, but remember that the Air has a SSD which speeds things up quite a bit, and the Air is an actual laptop, rather than a bulky underfeatured tablet alternative.

Verdict? Get a Nexus 7, iPad mini, etc. for the same or a little bit more money and enjoy a lot more stuff. You can even connect a bluetooth keyboard if you are inclined in that direction.

You'll also get more portability, flexibility etc.

Hope that helps  smile

Both Samsungs use SSDs as well and have less to load so likely would start up faster.

I stand corrected. The Chromebook starts up in just under 10 seconds, whereas the latest Air starts up in about 20.

Ah, alright.
I'd prefer a Mac over a Chromebook personally, for then I could do more than just internet stuff.  tongue

Definitely.

I wonder how locked down a Chromebook actually is though. Would it run Ubuntu? :o

It's so cheap.

I already have an iPad 4th gen, gaming PC and a Macbook Pro Retiana displayand I was wanting something fast to do web searches that had a keybourd and I really like the trackpad on my MacBook which is very similar to theChromebooks(2 finger scrolling, right click by tapping with 2 fingers...). I just don't know wether I will find it functional enough? My MacBook is for other tasks so I wanted something with good battery and the Chromebook seems to be what I want at a reasonable price. It has the same ppi(pixels per inch) as a mac air and roughly the same speeds as the cheep macs too. I think it will be good but I'm having to wait until they come back in stock and I wish to go to shop to try one out before I buy(I don't want any nasties like slow/choppy scrolling when using the gestures). Plus it will run scratch 2.0 as its inbrowser. I just want to know if I can save files(scratch files, documents...) onto the SSD(solid state hard drive) as I don't want to use the cloud for stuff like that). Hope you can help me find the answer.

If you already have a tablet, main PC, and laptop, I'm honestly doubtful that a Chromebook would be very useful to you. AFAIK there's not a whole lot it can do that a tablet can't. If you want a keyboard, have you considered looking into a portable one for your tablet instead?

+1 to Harakou

There are lots of awesome bluetooth keyboards for the iPad, which would make it much more functional than a Chromebook.

I looks like you really don't like the Chromebook. I will certainly be trying before im buying (that's if im buying) but the reason for me concidoring a Chromebook is for the speed(power it up to search the web extreamly quickly), I normally plug my PRO into the mains whenever using it and would not do that with my iPad. My iPad is used for other things and I was wanting the Chromebook for browsing. It doesn't look like i will be buying one now anyway(my only concern is many laptops[of the 350 range]run Windows which is certainly not what I would can fast{ a sail wouldn't even refer to it as being fast]for what i want to do with it. looks like I'm just buying another macbook unless you know a laptop that is fast under the 400 price range?
