I've grown up with all the Generations since Gen II, though I hadn't actually played a Pokémon game until Gen IV. Gen IV is the best because it has Gen II remakes  big_smile  (and other stuff)

Are you talking about pokemon, story and region, because gen I is an atrocity if you actually look at the mechanics.

-Now possible way to make your pokemon different from another of the same kind
-Glitch ridden as heck
-Wrap was broke because the defending couldn't attack and as long as the user of wrap was faster the opposing pokemon would almost never move.
-Psychic type was extremely broken and had only one weakness

Diamond and Pearl however added the special/physical split, which alone makes it shine brighter than gen I in my eyes.

But what do I know, maybe gen I is you second least favorite.

1st question: all of them.
Gen I is horrible, but has the 2nd best music (after Gen II) and it is ridiculously fun to play around with super glitch.

And yes, Gen I is my second least favorite.

My ranking:

Gen III:
9/10 stars
Gen II:
7.5/10 stars
Gen V:
5.5/10 stars
Gen I:
5/10 stars
Gen IV:
2/10 stars

All my friends grew up with IV also. And they quit because "Pokemon is for little kids and it's so boring." And I agree, Gen IV was designed for little kids and was pretty boring.

I do have to ask, are you not a big pokemon fan overall? You don't seem to like much of it.

Gen III felt... Really, it was really homey feeling.  Something about the pallet and everything just felt like the series was right where it needed to be at the time.
Then the other games came, and improved on that formula.  Gen 4 was the first generation I played, but quite honestly, it feels like gen 3 with better graphics.  Not quite up to par.  Still great, but not in comparison.
Your ranking of gen V is screwed up though.

Hey you guys know about the banned anime episode "Electric Soldier Porygon" right?

It apparently aired once in Japan and gave nearly 700 kids seizures, sending most of them to the hospital.

I dared myself to watch one of the seizure inducing scenes, and while I'm not epileptic in the slightest, it really really irritated my eyes. D:

It's a shame, too, the episode had a really cool and promising concept.

If you want to experience the eye torture for yourself, I really don't recommend you do so, if you want your eyes to hurt for a few minutes. -.-

Also, theres the Legend Of Dratini. It was banned too.

Re: Mass Pokemon Thread

Personally my favorite gens are (from least to best)

5. Gen I (Some good music and got the series started, but glitch-ridden, broken and archaic, I also don't like most of the designs)

4. Gen II (I really like this gen as this was the first one I picked a starter in, it had the sp.def and sp.atk stats, good music, some cool pokemon, and eggs, but it just isn't as good as the next couple gens because of an overload of horrible pokemon like dunsparce.)

3. Gen IV (Ah, the gen I truly got into loving pokemon. I love the wi-fi, the special/physical split is amazing, and I personally LIKE the evolutions they gave to old pokemon, because most of them were really bad before. The flaws are that I don't like too many of the new pokemon and the music and areas kinda bug me. It also introduced my favorite legendary, Giratina, and had the best cut-scene in pokemon history, the cut-scene where Giratina brings Cyrus into the distortion world in platinum.)

2. Gen III (I love the pokemon, the locations are memorable, the graphics look nice, it had a cool story and most of all THE MUSIC IS AMAZING. This is also the gen I have the most and greatest memories with. This isn't my favorite gen though because of two things, the special/physical split hadn't happened yet so a lot of new pokemon had horrible stats, and ALL THE STUPID WATER.

1. Gen V (Right behind hoenn with my favorite pokemon, has good music, I love Unova, the visuals are awesome and corrects what I don't like about gen III. I also love these games because they have the most after-game stuff, which Ruby and Sapphire had little to none of)

Re: Mass Pokemon Thread

Metronome is officially (in my opinion) the most entertaining move.

I was battling a magikarp with a togepi and a couple funny things happened:

-I used ingrain somehow
-I used super power
-I used hyper beam
-I used FRENZY PLANT

and best of all I used disable on a lv.5 magikarp so it used struggle. XD

I can see a lot of you guys grew up on Diamond/Pearl, I grew up on Ruby/Sapphire (actually I had emerald but same thing). So most of you guys seem to be 11.

Plus HotCocoa I really don't see why you hate Gen I. The original versions I think are okay, but FireRed and LeafGreen are amazing. Unless you don't count those, but I sort of do.

Don't get me wrong, Fire red is a fantastic game! It fixed all of the flaws that are in red blue and yellow. Fire red is a game every pokemon fan should at least try.

When I count when gens are my favorite, I take only the originals into account, I count in remakes in the gen they came out. I was mostly judging red and blue on a gameplay level because it is horrendous in that aspect. Really the towns and pokemon are decided by opinion, and I still don't like most of the pokemon, but that's just me.

I said physical/special not physical/special defense. The physical/special split made it so moves aren't physical or special depending on the type anymore, which was horrible. Absol had such a rough time because dark was a special type (ironic because there are only two special dark moves) and absol had horrible special attack but good physical attack. Same goes with Crawdaunt

What you are thinking of is when they turned the special stat into special attack and special defense. That was also awesome because the special stat is stupid.

Actually thinking back on it, I played gen III too so I guess I grew up a little on both.
Even D/P was the first game I played a lot, I gotta say my greatest memories come from gen III. It could be the time I woke up at 5 am to catch kyogre, or maybe the shiny zigzagoon. I wouldn't say I grew up on one gen considering I first played gen I, but got my first starter in gen II, I really sunk my teeth into gen IV, but I also played gen III.
