Hi, I'm new here. My brother has some experience with other programming languages such as C++ and Python, and he's helping me make my new game. The acceleration and deceleration are really hard to add. And for now, I'm working on hitboxes, which are really difficult to make... I want to be active on this forums, and wish to make many Scratch games.

Well I wish you good luck in that wish! I actually had it worse then you because almost everything that I know (other than a few exceptions) I had to learn by myself, though you have your brother to help you, so you should be able to get to a nice head start. Oh, and remember, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. ;)

Well, for beginning, you could use a script like this in Mario:

when gf clicked
forever
 if (touching [mario v]?)
  stop all
 end

Or, if you want something more advanced, then use this in Mario:

when gf clicked
set [dead? v] to (0)
forever
 if (touching [mario v]?)
  set [dead v] to (1)
  Death scripts...
  wait until (Respawn?)
  set [dead v] to (0)
  Respawn scripts...
 end

Also, put this around all of Mario's movement/sensing scripts:

if <(dead?) > (0)>
end
