What is Scratch Remix Revolution Week 2013?
One of the core elements of Scratch is remixing. It is massively encouraged by the moderators and the ST and is widely considered as a good thing. However, in December 2012 there were 62,645 projects. Only 15,763 were remixes. This is just 1/4. Considering how much remixing is encouraged, this, in my opinion, is not enough. So in January 2013, I am encouraging everyone to remix at least one project with Scratch Remix Revolution Week 2013! This will run from January 7 2013 to January 13 2013.
Everything Is A remix!
Look around. I am on a computer, which is a remix of a typewriter. The internet is a remix of several ideas. To the left of me is a radiator, which is a remix of a coal fire. I am a remix of two people, and so is every living thing on the earth right now (bacteria are remixes of just one bacterium, but that is the only exception. And it's still a remix!). Even this is a remix of stevetheipad's Scratch Remix Revolution Week 2012. I will take this opportunity to thank him for letting me use the idea.
Why Should We Remix?
As I have already stated, everything is a remix. If nobody remixed, nothing would exist. Basic things like houses and taps were remixes of caves and rivers. If nobody bothered remixing, the human race would have died out ages ago.
What Is The Aim Of This?
The aim is to restore the art of remixing. If we could get 100 more remixes I would be proud. However, the art of remixing does not include copying. To show that you have helped restore the art of remixing, post your remixes below. Thank you.
A good place to start.

A slow start but I will persevere.

I am not a fan of remixing, thanks. Do you mean like add yourselves? Or engines... Add yourselves are a complete waste of time.

1/4 of all total projects in a month is a pretty good amount, is you ask me. ಠ_ಠ

It's good ish but it could be much better.

What I mean is that not everything has to be a direct remix of other project, at least. Sometimes inspiration is all that one needs, rather than directly editing an existing project.

Perhaps, but you have to remember that many people here on Scratch think of remixing as being bad and they don't do it (know any "popular" Scratchers that remix often?). So this is more about spreading the word that remixing is cool, and to encourage it rather than act like it's uncool.
All projects here are remixes but not all Scratchers recognize that and are okay with remixing.

Doesn't entering these coloring contests make you cool nowadays? ;P

I was just going to say that. O_o
I'd personally consider the best number 1/10, and even that is against every creativity nerve in my body.

I thought Steve thought of this idea.

The last one was in June but that's not important. Remix Revolution 2014 could be in April or December.

Yes he did. I asked fo his permission to remix it for 2013.

I have also recently been interested in remixing, but not the primitive 'add yourself' types, but rather more creative types.
This project encourages people to download the project, tune the gearbox, and reupload a faster tuned up car. You can also remix the look of the car.

Not particularly.
However, on the alpha site, I remixed this for the chatroom project I made to store the room's password so prying eyes couldn't see it, repurposing its scripts into a function and building on top of it. I've recently rediscovered remixing as a good way to fulfill the "attribution" part of the Creative Commons license which you agree to by using the project, and it makes sense that if you use a large part of something someone else made, there should be some sort of credit involved. Plus then if you remix, you don't have to copy all those scripts (I'm assuming you're not just being a jerk and doing the import project thing).
(edit: fixing horrible comma usage)

I think it's good to take advantage of the opportunities we get from the Creative Commons license. I don't think it should be a complete copy though, that's irritating.

Yeah, I agree with that. But reimagining & repurposing something is great.
