Meh, but does anyone know which episode is where Squidward accidently rips off his eyebrows (with skin) while trying to pull an eyebrow hair?

I beleive that one was Pineapple Fever.
That one wasn't too bad.

That one was god awful! D:

So yeah does anyone agree that The Camping Episode is really overrated?

It was good for a newer episode.
And the camping episode isn't to overrated.
I believe the most overrated one is Gift of Gum.
It was terrible yet they play it all the time.

camping Episode is overrated like you wouldn't believe.

Guys the term "overrated" means like too many people think it,s good when it's really doesn't deserve it, not how much they play it in your area.

No.

The reason Band Geeks is so great because it's not really meant to be an episode looked at purely for humor quality. It's the greatest episode because of Squidward's real personality: his drive to succeed and get his talent recognized, and how dependent he really is on the folks of Bikini Bottom to make it happen. He realizes that he can't just do it himself, just snap-bang, and cannot judge his partners too easily, because you never know, they could really pack a punch. Band Geeks is an episode with a moral: do not judge a book by its cover. It conveys this moral very effectively. Sure it's got funny moments, but that's just the help.

The Camping Episode does not hold any such qualities. It's an episode looked at for humor. Cheap humor that is. It's just slapstick. Squidward getting violently mauled. It's a really poor episode for what its worth. It has no moral. I liked it when it first came out, but over the years I've found that it's actually not living up to what people say it is. Plus I hate the Campfire Song Song.

Now at age 13, I look at cartoons now for morals and for effective and inventive storylines that are unique. When I was young, I just saw humor, humor, and humor. Bahahahahaha. That's not me anymore. I find that for a cartoon to be truly good is for it to have at least a few episodes with morals and an authentic and feel-good storyline. But it can't just simply have a subtle moral like that, it needs to be unfolded in a unique way. Hooky is another episode that does this. Like, you know the term "playing hooky". Well Bob and Pat literally played hooky. Band Geeks is a rare cartoon episode that plays out a moral in a different way, exploiting characters and allowing to truly release their full personas and potential. All the Campfire Episode shows is that Squidward is stubborn and impatient. Band Geeks shows that Squidward is a good hearted fellow underneath who just wants to follow his dream, but ends up finding he can't do it himself and grows to show an appreciation for the townsfolk.

Kabam. Now, my argument is completed. I hope you now see the truth and proof. You can call me a fanboy for defending this so much, but I just could not let this slide. Animeboy, I dare you to make a reasonable and justifiable counterexample.

Re: The Official Spongebob Topic

Reposting my top 20 in response to Animeboy's top 10. >:D

banana500 wrote:

Okay, so here it is.

I have revised my original top 5 best episodes, now it is a top 20.

I recently rewatched the entire seasons 1-3. Now I've put a lot of thought into this. This will probably be a very long post, so sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy.

This is my final consensus of this show's greatest episodes.

Without further ado.

20. Sailor Mouth/Rock-A-Bye Bivalve - These two episodes are the prime example of it being able to appeal to older audiences. The innuendoes are funny. I couldn't decide between these two, so I tied them.

19. Employee of the Month - An episode that shows that Squidward and Spongebob can be actual rivals, that Spongebob doesn't always like Squidward and can be suspicious of him. Same goes for Squidward. And the scene where they're constantly outwitting each other is funny to say in the least.

18. Life of Crime - I have but one thing to say: don't you just wish National Free Balloon Day was real?

17. Idiot Box - This is a good episode, but I think it's a tiny bit overrated. It has a lot of funny moments. But I put it at #17 because it's truly a bit of an overrated episode.

16. Pranks A Lot - This episode is just plain hilarious. It's got a funny concept and Bob and Pat learn their lesson in the end about karma after pranking everyone to think that they're ghosts.

15. Missing Identity - This is an episode I think really shows the wackiness and goofiness of this show. Spongebob repeatedly retracing his steps is something I'll always laugh at. Patrick's really funny in this episode too ("Spongeboob? Ahahahaha, who's Spongeboob?" "Wow, Stingray 5000! Why would anyone throw this away?").

14. Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost - I find this episode great because it shows how Squidward might want to exact his revenge on Bob and Pat for annoying him so much. Squidward may seem a bit cruel with his plan but then it backfires on him, with Bob and Pat irritating him just again, regardless. Plus it's funny. ("How do we clean up this mess?" "Easy! Just tear this wallpaper off.")

13. Hooky - I like this episode because of the way the moral is played out. The term "playing hooky" means to skip work or school without permission and involuntarily. Literally, Spongebob plays hooky by playing on fishing hooks, which Mr. Krabs warns him about. I didn't realize this before, but now the joke behind it clearly resonates. The other moral is not to fall under peer pressure, since Patrick coerces Spongebob to do what isn't right.

12. Squid's Day Off - Another Squidward-focused episode. I love this episode simply because it's funny. The part where Squidward imagines the Krusty Krab on fire still just kills me to this day. It also shows his insecureness. ("You're losing your bluish glow.") He just wants a day off, yet keeps getting worried or distracted.

11. Club Spongebob - Another goofy episode. All I can say is Don't underestimate the Magic Conch.

10. Plankton! - The episode that first introduced Plankton, the maniacal one-eyed villain hell bent on obtaining a Krabby Patty. In this episode he really is evil, and is sort of like a parasite, trying to use Bob for his own bad deeds. It's a funny episode too. ("A booster seat, Hot Mama!" "Letters of the alphabet, ABC...")

9. Walking Small - A Plankton-focused episode. It's the second time that Plankton has attempted to influence and exploit Spongebob. It also shows how Plankton always gets his comeuppance in the end. Plus it has my favorite line from the entire show: "You used me...FOR LAND DEVELOPMENT!"

8. Chocolate With Nuts - One of the classics. And not just for the "Chocolate...did you say chocolate?" bit, but for a lot of other memorable lines and moments too.

7. The Paper - Probably the most underrated episode of this entire show. It's funny and overall great. Just the concept sounds dumb, but it really pays off to give us an amazing episode.

6. Survival of the Idiots - This is one of my favorite episodes. It's overall plain hilarious. Sandy with her fantasies of Dirty Dan and Pinhead Larry, and Spongebob and Patrick's paradise-turned-nightmare is just awesome.

5. Sleepy Time - I love this episode because its concept is one of the most unique I've seen yet in any cartoon. Spongebob invading other people's dreams is a plot to truly remember. Don't forget, this was way before Inception.

4. Can You Spare A Dime? - This is funny because it shows further how insecure Squidward can be. From that to driving Spongebob crazy. They sort of switch personalities, and the result is remarkable.

3. Help Wanted - This was, I believe, the first episode I ever watched. It began one of the greatest cartoons ever conceived. I can't describe how much I love this episode in just words. I don't have to say anything more.

2. Band Geeks/Ripped Pants - These two episodes I was really mixed on, so I decided to give them a tie. Band Geeks is, yet again, a Squidward episode. But here he's determined and, again, insecure. But the end shows that he did get his chance to shine, and it makes you root for him. It also has the single greatest moment of this entire show. Ripped Pants is an episode that really really started this show. It establishes it's reputation like no other.

And the number one Spongebob episode is...

1. Something Smells - I believe that this episode holds the entire essence of the first three seasons. It has the most memorable moments of this show. It establishes how awesome this show really is. I'm going to name off all the memorable scenes:
"You've gotta be kidding me."
"It's called the Ugly Barnacle..."
"I'm ugly and I'm PROUD."
"DEEEEAUUUGGGHH."
"LOOK AT IT!"
"WE STINK! WE STINK!"
Plus that part where Squidward's window shopping at the wig store is hilarious. Also it shows the cluelessness yet intelligence of each character. Patrick is also loyal to Spongebob and tries to help him regain his self-esteem after realizing he is "ugly".
And that is why Something Smells is the greatest episode of this show.

And that's the verdict.

7. Patrick SmartPants (the best post-movie ep.) Ehhh, this was okay.
6. Ugh Good episode, not great enough for me.

I wanted Hooky and Club SB to be on teh list, couldn't find a spot for them.

Something Smells was okay. I actually prefer Bossy Boots.
Walking Small and the paper were also okay.

Okay good you removed Planet of the Jellyfish.

And I have successfully diverted your opinion of the Camping Episode, I see. >:D

I still don't see why Band Geeks isn't on there. :P I say it's tied with Ripped Pants for second best episode.

And are you sure Patrick SmartPants is the best post-film ep? I'd say that goes to Krabs a la Mode. I remember liking that ep a lot when I was seven.
