Cyber Law
Hello Scratchers. I'm not quite sure where this topic would belong, but I'm really interested on some Scratcher's take on cyber laws. It's a really in-depth topic, but I'd just like to stay on the surface for this discussion. With the growth and increasing use of technology in society, governments are required to write new laws accordingly, but where do they cross the line between protecting national interests and invading their citizen's privacy? For example, with the FISA Warrantless Wiretapping Bill that just passed through Congress, the U.S. can now listen in on really any phone call they believe they need to, as long as one of the callers is outside the States. What do you guy's think? Where do governments cross the line? Are these laws really necessary to protect a nation's ideals?

That is the almighty power and supreme divinity of the information superhighway.
It has no laws. Whatever intercepts the stream will, immediately or eventually, become a part of it. There is no limit to what may enter the stream.
Anything.
Everything.

political discussions are usually frowned upon on the scratch forums, perhaps you can make a project asking people about this instead

I first watched it three years ago, but yes it is one of my all time favorite films, so I definitely get a lot of my cyberspace theories and philosophy whatever from that.

Do you have a particular media source and specific topic that you would like to discuss here? Please remember the purpose of this forum section is to share particular things that you are reading or playing (or watching) that you enjoy and want to share with your fellow Scratchers. Deep philosophical debate about the balance of safety versus personal freedoms MIGHT fall into that category - if you have a favorite media source that you would like to discuss specifically.

Well, that was clearly not the right place for it. There's no creating taking place here...
Since we don't seem to have a solid source to help frame this conversation, this really doesn't seem like a good fit for the forums - I'll close it. You can make a Scratch Project about it though - it could attract a good discussion.
