LOL! Problems with remixing 1.2.1 projects.

If you save a 1.2.1 project on 1.3, Everything will start getting wierd! First of all, the text will start messing up, Some things that worked in 1.2.1 stop working, and the program starts glitching up! This happens if you share it too(Even if you didn't save...)

Ex: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/mkolpnji/261270

Can someone fix this problem on the Scratch team by creating some sort of Scratch 1.3.1 Otherwise I won't be able to complete projects that I started in 1.2.1 and want to use in 1.3  sad

Re: LOL! Problems with remixing 1.2.1 projects.

For 1.3.1 Make sure that the original Scratch fonts are like default fonts and come with Scratch.

In order to be non-latin text supporting and rtl-supporting they had to take away this feature.

Re: LOL! Problems with remixing 1.2.1 projects.

Maybe the old fonts would show up if the language was set to the languages it supports? I don't know if it would be possible but it would certainly help make this problem go away...

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Re: LOL! Problems with remixing 1.2.1 projects.

Hi, mkolpnji.

Could you say more about what is messed up? What things stopped working? Do they not work in Scratch, or just on the website?

Unfortunately, the old fonts are no longer available. I tried to make it possible to use the old fonts for the languages they supported, but that introduced a bunch problems with layout and line wrapping. However, if you don't edit the text of a costume created in Scratch 1.2.1 with old fonts, then the costume will keep using the old font.

If you don't need lists or other features introduced in Scratch 1.3, you could just keep using 1.2.1 for now.

Only until you save the project. Once that happens, the fonts change, even if you don't edit the text.

No, I cannot confirm this. I just downloaded an old project of mine, edited a costume with an old font in it by painting something else while not touching the old text, and saved it under a different name, then reopened it in Scratch, and the old fonts in the edited costume were still there.

I do need lists, their awsome  smile
Well in Scratch 1.2.1 it always worked perfectly, but I envetually found glitches in the project I mentioned when I loaded it into Scratch 1.3 and saved. I think there might have been a problem when the Scratch 1.2.1 file was converted into 1.3. maybe some things were altered by accident. Back when I posted this link I was just frusterated with the work I had to do, so I mightn't have made much sense.

Maybe you're computer has Comic Sans MS, at some sizes, it looks exsactly like the original in some sizes. Other wise it will be different. Also, take note that even though the fonts changed, when you check the picture it will still say ComicSans until you change that.

William7777, please check the date of the post that you are responding to and make sure it still makes sense to respond.  This topic is very old and it is not likely that it is still relevant.  I'll close it.
