How Could Pokemon Get Better?

I think Pokemon can get a lot better than it currently is. Heck, now there's a Pokemon whose design is based off a freaking ICE CREAM CONE.

 when gf clicked
 broadcast [Kill Vanillite v]
 broadcast [Kill Vanillish v]
 broadcast [Kill Vanilluxe v]
 stop script

And that sums up what I think of the Pokemon themselves.

Here are nine ways I think Pokemon can get better:

1. Ability to customize your character to some extent.
2. No more new Pokemon. There are 649 (plus Black and White Kyurem) right now.
3. After beating the game, the ability to create custom Gyms and let other people try them.
4. Keep each Pokemon's story more simple and believable.
5. Like the Pokemon Ranger games, have all the Pokemon in your party follow you (excluding Eggs) rather than keeping them trapped in a Poke Ball.
6. Make it so certain legendaries will appear only after you've obtained all other Pokemon in the region's Pokedex. For example, if you've got 150 Pokemon in your Kanto Pokedex, you can encounter Mew.
7. Add some kind of co-op element.
8. Don't add backstory to the playable characters and rivals.
9. Tie the Pokemon you encounter in the wild to which starter you chose, rather than having multiple versions with the same gameplay.

Post your own suggestions!

It can't get better.

It is the same game every time.

Re: How Could Pokemon Get Better?

i think its getting hackneyed as of now - pretty much the same formula over and over.

id really like to see actual 3d enviroments, not pseudo-3d ones like we have now. id also like to see a real-time battle system, fully animated 3d models for every pokemon, and a more believable and sturdy storyline.

but that won't happen because they just want money, the closest they ever got was XD/colosseum.

Yeah, I'd really like to see some kind of actual 3D game too.

I don't see anything wrong with the Vanilluxe family. If anyting, Gen 1 pokemon were unoriginal. And without new pokemon, you can't spice things up with new games. And if you want a more believeable storyline, you are playing a game where plants fight each other for sport.

Yeah, I'd really like to see some kind of actual 3D game too.

Like a 3D console Mystery Dungeon game. :o

Nah I never liked the MD games too much anyway.

If there's a Pokemon Online Multiplayer where people can go around in real time and fight and stuff like a real MMO, that would be awesome. Not meaning Friend Codes but real accounts and such. Maybe for the Wii U.

Yes but those are what the game is all about.

The storyline does deviate most of the time, but still.

nice word.
Here are some suggestions...
Catch every Pokemon in one game
Pokemon walk behind you like in HG/SS
Buy Masterballs
OHKOs have a little bit more of a chance of hitting
After becoming the master, people battle you to become the champion.

The storylines are fairly similar too, though, and the settings aren't that inventive.

believable as in events make sense and there is actual weight tied to those events. right now the storylines are flat and arbitrary.

I like Pokemon from Gen. 1 up to Gen. 4. I think all the Gen. 5 Pokemon look stupid.

I like Gen 3 the best.

Re: How Could Pokemon Get Better?

They should stop using the same strhjiosdfh formula and make something new. Actual 3D enviroments, as described by people here, would be great. Return to the Kanto/Johto times yet again - you don't need yet another set of 100 new unoriginal Pokemon. And for the sake of nostalgia too.

I'd like to see something based in the anime, for some reason.  tongue  Actually, an open world Pokemon Stadium taking place in Kanto with trainers from the anime sounds like the best Pokemon game ever to me  tongue

But sadly,

Re: How Could Pokemon Get Better?

another thing id like to see is some sort of side character that follows you around and is actually meaningful. all the side-characters who've ever existed in pokemon are flat stock characters with no contribution to the game whatsoever and who arbitrarily pop up. the thing i liked most about the anime is that there was meaningful human interaction and friendship.

Re: How Could Pokemon Get Better?

Three words.
No. More. Events.

They're just an annoying scam and it makes it really hard to "catch them all" if you aren't able to tend to any events.

why not? i think it would be a breath of fresh air and would add more depth and realism to the enviroments.

In my personal opinion, that'd make the games worse...

That'd make it like Pokemon Ranger. Plus, catching Pokemon with Pokeballs is like one of the main concepts of the game.

Uh.. no. That will make regions pretty boring, the only reason most regions have their own qualities is because of the Pokemon that live in them.
