I've started a website/blog all about my ridiculous and overly ambitious projects, such as the wall climbing gloves! I've only written two pages so far, but I'm going to write another one shortly. Here's the link: http://ridiculous-inventions.weebly.com/index.html

You need the hinges for the gloves, they give the hooks a better angle to hook on to the wall.
How? The hinges move, don't they? So how does that help?

The hooks need to be able to move.

Do remember that the deeper into the wall you go with the hooks the more of your weight it can hold, if you go a tiny bit into it you'll just rip off part of the brick.

Ok, but why?

Are you saying that that's what the hinges are for?
@owetre18 What are you talking about?

I'm saying that the idea itself just won't work, there's always going to be a weak point, whether it be the bricks not being strong enough, the hooks being too brittle or the gloves tearing, you'd need very strong materials for everything, and what's the point of only being able to climb a certain wall that only you use?

I don't understand. You know that the concept works; I even put a video on the page for you all to watch. The concept does work. If I need hinges for it to work, then so be it. But you seem to be saying that the idea of using lots of very small hooks to scale a wall won't work - which simply isn't true.

They're huge boards, small gloves won't spread the force out enough, and what is actually keeping the hand in the glove?

Well actually, in my blog I mention that I am first going to try it with boards like that. And yes, I know it's unlikely to work with gloves, but I want to try it anyway. The thing is, though, I'll have the hooks all over the boards/gloves. In that video you can see that because of the hinges, the rows of hooks are spread out by about 3 inches or more. So if I used all the available space, unlike them, then it's possible that I could get the same amount of hooks onto a space about the size of my hand.
And yes, I know the fact that it's a glove will be a problem, so I'll make some kind of strap that perhaps goes down my arm and around my chest, which would keep the glove from coming away.

Cool. That would be awesome to have.
Indeed.

It doesn't matter how many hooks you can fit onto that area, a small area is still a problem.

I'm pretty sure it's the amount of contact points that's the main thing, actually.
But we'll see...

Ok, but why?
So the hooks can adjust to the correct angle for climbing, a bit like a grappling hook.

Ah, ok. Well I'll find out how important that actually is when I don't do it.

you are definitely going to need more surface area if you want those gloves to work
youll never be able to hold yourself up with one hand with those
you're right this is ridiculous
