No offense, but I hated that one.
That one was average - but better than the one where Patrick gets a nose and then rages a foolish war against smell.

I thought that one was okay, save for Spongebob's crying. -.-

Okay I've been reading the old posts of this topic.
Oh how fanboyish we were. XD
Oh, and I just realized something.
Remember that deleted scene in Just One Bite.
They don't show that anymore but they still show the *shudder* Toenail Scene?
What is wrong with them? D:

Well, that scene involved explosions and premiered around 9/11. The toenail scene did not involve explosions and premiered later.

Okay, so here it is.
I have revised my original top 5 best episodes, now it is a top 20.
I recently rewatched the entire seasons 1-3. Now I've put a lot of thought into this. This will probably be a very long post, so sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy.
This is my final consensus of this show's greatest episodes.
Without further ado.
20. Sailor Mouth - This episode is the prime example of it being able to appeal to older audiences. The innuendoes are funny. I think this episode's purpose is solely to mock censorship.
19. Employee of the Month - An episode that shows that Squidward and Spongebob can be actual rivals, that Spongebob doesn't always like Squidward and can be suspicious of him. Same goes for Squidward. And the scene where they're constantly outwitting each other is funny to say in the least.
18. Life of Crime - I have but one thing to say: don't you just wish National Free Balloon Day was real?
17. Idiot Box - This is a good episode, but I think it's a tiny bit overrated. It has a lot of funny moments. But I put it at #17 because it's truly a bit of an overrated episode.
16. Pranks A Lot - This episode is just plain hilarious. It's got a funny concept and Bob and Pat learn their lesson in the end about karma after pranking everyone to think that they're ghosts.
15. Missing Identity - This is an episode I think really shows the wackiness and goofiness of this show. Spongebob repeatedly retracing his steps is something I'll always laugh at. Patrick's really funny in this episode too ("Spongeboob? Ahahahaha, who's Spongeboob?" "Wow, Stingray 5000! Why would anyone throw this away?").
14. Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost - I find this episode great because it shows how Squidward might want to exact his revenge on Bob and Pat for annoying him so much. Squidward may seem a bit cruel with his plan but then it backfires on him, with Bob and Pat irritating him just again, regardless. Plus it's funny. ("How do we clean up this mess?" "Easy! Just tear this wallpaper off.")
13. Hooky - I like this episode because of the way the moral is played out. The term "playing hooky" means to skip work or school without permission and involuntarily. Literally, Spongebob plays hooky by playing on fishing hooks, which Mr. Krabs warns him about. I didn't realize this before, but now the joke behind it clearly resonates. The other moral is not to fall under peer pressure, since Patrick coerces Spongebob to do what isn't right.
12. Squid's Day Off - Another Squidward-focused episode. I love this episode simply because it's funny. The part where Squidward imagines the Krusty Krab on fire still just kills me to this day. It also shows his insecureness. ("You're losing your bluish glow.") He just wants a day off, yet keeps getting worried or distracted.
11. Club Spongebob - Another goofy episode. All I can say is Don't underestimate the Magic Conch.
10. Plankton! - The episode that first introduced Plankton, the maniacal one-eyed villain hell bent on obtaining a Krabby Patty. In this episode he really is evil, and is sort of like a parasite, trying to use Bob for his own bad deeds. It's a funny episode too. ("A booster seat, Hot Mama!" "Letters of the alphabet, ABC...")
9. Walking Small - A Plankton-focused episode. It's the second time that Plankton has attempted to influence and exploit Spongebob. It also shows how Plankton always gets his comeuppance in the end. Plus it has my favorite line from the entire show: "You used me...FOR LAND DEVELOPMENT!"
8. Chocolate With Nuts - One of the classics. And not just for the "Chocolate...did you say chocolate?" bit, but for a lot of other memorable lines and moments too.
7. The Paper - Probably the most underrated episode of this entire show. It's funny and overall great. Just the concept sounds dumb, but it really pays off to give us an amazing episode.
6. Survival of the Idiots - This is one of my favorite episodes. It's overall plain hilarious. Sandy with her fantasies of Dirty Dan and Pinhead Larry, and Spongebob and Patrick's paradise-turned-nightmare is just awesome.
5. Sleepy Time - I love this episode because its concept is one of the most unique I've seen yet in any cartoon. Spongebob invading other people's dreams is a plot to truly remember. Don't forget, this was way before Inception.
4. Can You Spare A Dime? - This is funny because it shows further how insecure Squidward can be. From that to driving Spongebob crazy. They sort of switch personalities, and the result is remarkable.
3. Help Wanted - This was, I believe, the first episode I ever watched. It began one of the greatest cartoons ever conceived. I can't describe how much I love this episode in just words. I don't have to say anything more.
2. Band Geeks/Ripped Pants - These two episodes I was really mixed on, so I decided to give them a tie. Band Geeks is, yet again, a Squidward episode. But here he's determined and, again, insecure. But the end shows that he did get his chance to shine, and it makes you root for him. It also has the single greatest moment of this entire show. Ripped Pants is an episode that really really started this show. It establishes it's reputation like no other.
And the number one Spongebob episode is...
1. Something Smells - I believe that this episode holds the entire essence of the first three seasons. It has the most memorable moments of this show. It establishes how awesome this show really is. I'm going to name off all the memorable scenes:
"You've gotta be kidding me."
"It's called the Ugly Barnacle..."
"I'm ugly and I'm PROUD."
"DEEEEAUUUGGGHH."
"LOOK AT IT!"
"WE STINK! WE STINK!"
Plus that part where Squidward's window shopping at the wig store is hilarious. Also it shows the cluelessness yet intelligence of each character. Patrick is also loyal to Spongebob and tries to help him regain his self-esteem after realizing he is "ugly".
And that is why Something Smells is the greatest episode of this show.
And that's the verdict.
Stay tuned for the top 10 best moments and scenes of the show, coming soon.

Krusty Towers was good, but not enough to make the list.
Karate Island was okay, still not enough to make the list.
Spongebob Meets the Strangler was also very good, actually, but not enough to make the list.
Also, you guys want to know what really is the most underrated and forgotten SB episode?
Neptune's Spatula.

A lot of people know how awesome that episode was dude.
Plus it was from Season 2, I think, how could it be a diamond in the rough? More a diamond in the diamonds.

Time for a rant on my personal least favorite episode of Spongebob: SquidBob TentaclePants!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Season No.: 4
Original air date: November 4th, 2005
Storyboarded by: Zeus Carvas and Erik Wiese
Written by: Zeus Carvas, Erik Wiese, and Steven Banks
Stars (on a scale of 1-5): 1
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, this episode starts off with Squidward.....strangely playing his clarinet infront of a crowd of girls. First off, i'm thinking "wut?" already in my brain. Anyways, he has long braids, and the girls pick Squiddy up, proceeded by his laughter just to wake up. It skips to Spongebob, putting on his tie and coming out of his house. Squidward exits his house, and spongebob is creepily HOVERING right next to Squidward. They walk to work together, until they run into Sandy, testing out a new contraption she made. She shows it to Spongebob, and Squidward just dissapeared. Spongebob tells Sandy he has to get to work soon, so she tests it out. After that, Spongebob HITS Squidward before he enters the Krusty Krab, somehow morphing them together. They come back in the teleporter, which shows them morphed together. After that, a random montage of their MORPHED SELF scaring other people. It was just stupid. They scare a kidnergardner (i think) and a pregnant woman for some reason. Nothing here but lame "jokes". Squidward then explains to Sandy that he's got a clarinet recital tommorow.

What do you guys think is the best Spongebob song?
THIS is my favorite. They should change the theme to that song.

I just watched that new overhyped episode called "Karate Pants".
Geez, that was terrible!
It was filled with nothing but cheap slapstick, totally uninspired plot, and the worst ending ever.
Squidward wants to learn karate from Sandy. Okay seems promising.
Why? Somebody stole his groceries and he wants revenge.
What's wrong with this picture so far? He wants revenge for someone taking his GROCERIES.
That is the stupidest motive I've ever seen.
Sandy keeps telling Squid "Don't use karate for revenge only for protection."
So through sheer dumb luck, impatience, incompetence, and jerky narcissistic attitude he somehow manages to get really good at it.
So he confronts this dude again, beats the poo out ta him, but the dude just says he wanted to apologize and GIVE BACK THE GROCERIES.
Sandy and Spongebob show up and are like "Squidward you used karate for revenge you ain't worthy" and Squidward's like "Pssh I don't give a ****".
The cops show up and arrest Squidward for beating the dude up.
And that's the episode! That's it! Ugggh. This is why the show needs to end, the new episodes have such uninspiration and uncreativity!
Plus they hyped it like it was going to be the best episode yet! This is what makes the new writers such idiots, they think they're as good as the classic first three seasons, but they're not!
I'll rant about some more Season 8 eps later. Stay tuned!

I remember that song! :D Brings back so many memories!
It was from the House Party one if I remember.
The song which will always be my favorite is "Sweet Victory" from the end of Band Geeks. It's also the single greatest scene of the entire show, most fans will agree.
