RateYourMusic

A website where people can rate, review, and catalog music and films.

Comment on each other's ratings and collections. I'd love to discuss disagreements, but keep it civil and comment on the opinions rather than judge their personality by it.

Here's mine: http://rateyourmusic.com/~sanddude/

Re: RateYourMusic

I've got one!
I mostly use it for tracking what music I own, though I'll rate stuff once I've heard it (and my rating scale is based on how much robots something is). I don't generally do reviews and whatnot, and I do various things like add releases, info, and album art (which I usually scan & clean up myself).

Re: RateYourMusic

Can somebody make fun of my ratings so I can defend them?

Re: RateYourMusic

Do you have to go through and manually upload each album? or can you upload a folder or something?

You have to do things manually.

Also fun fact: if you put your last.fm profile in the listening to section, it will grab what you're listening from there.

Re: RateYourMusic

Am unsure why you rated this so highly.

Also you didn't give Beck enough stars
He needs more stars.

I gave his two best albums in my opinion, 4.5s. The way I rated them is kind of odd; I though that maybe Odelay deserved a 5, but I might like Sea Change better and I don't think that's a 5, so I needed to be consistant.

I rated it highly as kind of a joke. It honestly makes just as much sense as giving Zeitgeist a 5 to me (in general you're a bit liberal on the 5s with Smashing Pumpkins).

Re: RateYourMusic

I think I'm a bit liberal on the 5s with just about everything. I did rate a lot of things a few years ago, though, and I don't think I had that great of judgement then.

And I think at least IMO Odelay'd deserve a 4, Sea Change a 5, and Mellow Gold a 4 or 4.5. But that's just me ^O^

As for Los Smashing Pumpkins (that is their Spanish name shh don't question me), I think I did rate a lot of it too highly.

Here's what I'd probably say if rating now (and I won't re-rate, because I'm too lazy):

Lull - NOT ENOUGH DATA
Gish - 2.5 (I haven't listened to it too many times, but it was kind of awful >_> I did like a few of the songs, though so I'll give it this)
Siamese Dream - 4.5 (Great album, has some amazing songles ["Disarm" comes to mind] but some stuff meanders)
Pisces Iscariot - 4.5 (Also has good songs. There was one I really liked on here too, but I forget :"( )
Mellon Collie - 4.0 (Good but too long and similar Dx)
Adore - 3.5 (Haven't listened too much either, but I really like "Appels + Oranjes" and there was another one I forget that I liked ["Pug"?] but some of it was kind of bad too)
Machina - NOT ENOUGH DATA
Machina II - 5.0 (srs. This one is really really really good. "Here's to the Atom Bomb". "Go". "Let Me Give the World to You". I can't think of one I don't like. The EPs make it even better.
Zeitgeist - 4.0 (I like it. Yup.)
G.L.O.W. - 2.0 (I don't like it. Yup.)
Teargarden Vol. 1-3 - 4.5 (All these songs sound really great, with the exception of, like, "The Fellowship". Borf.)
Oceania - 4.0 (I really liked it when I first heard it on the iTunes stream thing, enough to get it the day it came out, and really liked it then too. Haven't listened to it since, but giving it 4 on principle ^o^)

Re: RateYourMusic

I'm listening to bits of Oceania right now and I think I'd probably bump 'er up to a 4.5

The songs on here are really good.
