even male drones?

No. A virgin queen is generally defined as a female bee that, while fertile, has yet to mate with a drone. Drones (male bees) cannot fulfill the most important of these requirements: being female. By the way, saying "male drones" is redundant because all drones are male, that's just how it is.

what if its transgender making it a female drone  yikes

The way drones are conceived is that the queen lays an unfertilized egg, which essentially mutates into a male bee. The characteristics of a drone is that they have no stingers nor ovipositors. When an egg is fertilized, it is female, therefore a worker.

Bees cannot transgender, unlike frogs. Drones are male, and cannot and never will be female.

I'm finding now this went from a discussion of the theoretical concept of a hive mind to the nature of bees.

No. Bees lack sentience, traditional human gender roles, and, indeed, the concept of gender (as far as we know), and therefore cannot want to be the other gender. Plus, I can't imagine why you would want to be a drone anyway because after mating they die.

then dont mate
use your nonexistent (so far as humans know) sentience to make a decision
rebel against your genes!

If a drone does not mate there is no purpose to its existence.

What? I don't understand what you just said.

Perhaps bees don't have gender at all. Maybe they just are who they are. Kind of difficult to describe, but you know what I mean.

Perhaps bees don't have a mind at all...

Nah, that sounds silly.

is mating really a purpose anyway
if you want to speak like that, then is our only purpose in life mating
or carrying on the species

Drones do help to carry on the species, that is what I meant.

What if they're born (or hatched) with their purpose or instruction literally programmed into them at birth? How do they know this is their job in life, this is what they have to do?

at the end of the day i dont really think there is an overall purpose to the existence of anything whatsoever
things just, you know, exist

Why do we exist anyway?

What did we ever do to exist?

What is the reason we're here?

What were we meant for?

Such broad questions, yet only one answer.

Nothing.

There is no reason.

Nor will there ever be.

There is no purpose or path designated for the human race.

The only purposes we have are just developed ourselves.

We are our own queen.

We exist...

...just because we do.

If a drone does not mate there is no purpose to its existence.

To be fair, they also help a bit in protecting the hive and regulating temperature.

There is no collective will of this race.

None at all.

In a way, we ourselves may not exist at all.

What is existence anyway?

Actually, it's been found that bees do rather have individuality. For instance, while some bees are more adventurous and willing to explore new places, others are more timorous and don't explore as much. There was a reason for both existing but I forget what it was.

No, I mean in an evolution-y sense. Logically the adventurous bees would be the survivors in most situations but the shy ones are still there. There was a reason for this, but I forget what it is.
