Overworld.
We're working on that aspect first i think. So since we're setting up the world and i haven't made battle sprites yet you should work on that music. But avoid songs with lyrics (just a reminder) cause it would be really crazy.

I'd like to sign up, I don't have time to do the website thing right now but I will soon.
I think our types should expand on pokemons but would remain elemental or at least pokemonish. So I wouldn't be keen on 'food' or anything. (But of course its not up to me.)

Its perfect because it is 15 in total, and I can even write up a chart of what is weak or strong against what. That is, if everyone likes my list.

By the way I do ideas and sprites. I have lots of spriting experience so I just need to know the style, size and a design of one of these battlmon and I can get started.

Wow! I didn't think about Undead and i forgot Ice! But you forgot Dark, I think we should replace Sound with Dark, oh wait you have Shadow.
I like it other than the Space and Time types. Maybe we could have Normal instead of Space. No, actually never mind, they're good. But i think we should at least add 2 more, like Regal and Psychic (Mystic).

Well no one has accepted my evil "team" name, Pyro Stormers.
Since we're not using team cause it's too Pokemony I thought this was good. Pyro is fire in Latin and Stormers sounds cool. So therefore Pyro Stormers.
Or the PSO, the Pyro Stormers Organization.
I vote Pyro Stormers.
And one more thing. Out of our 5 members we have 3 voting for egg, and also since Collab Leader Pro01 votes for it, BattlMon (like Pokemon) shall henceforth be born from eggs.

Is it ok if i design some of the Landmarks? I'll also be brainstorming our own form of Gym Leaders but I suck at drawing people. I could get my friend to join, he's amazing with art! He could draw a "Gym Leader" in no time. But actually I think he can only draw when he feels like it. Not when someone gives him something to draw. Or it's only with writing, maybe both.

Anyway, i thought one of the Landmarks could be a volcano and some crazy old blacksmith lives there and you have to chase him around and catch him before he battles you (therefore not adopting the battle other trainers before Gym Leader tactics of Pokemon)

Ok - Dark and Shadow are the same, I just wanted to avoid calling them by their pokemon counterpart names.
Space and Time are much better than Regal or Psychic - what would Regal even be? Name more than 5 Battlmon that would be 'regal' (and it can't a king concept used over and over.)
I also don't think that a 'normal' or a 'basic' is necessary.
I don't like the ideas of food or regal because they wouldn't have enough diversity within them, and they don't really fit in with the others. It would also be harder to come up with attacks, stats, and strengths/weaknesses for something like 'food' which is rather silly or 'regal' which isn't an element or anything, it is just a random adjective.
Mystic is an OK idea but I think that 15 is a good number and also we have Magic - Magic and Mystic would probably be too similar. Remember, diversity.
But again its not up to me.
Also tell me why you don't like Space or Time?

No no, I wasn't thinking right when i said i didn't like Space and Time, I like it. And Mystic was supposed to be PSychic's counterpart. Regal would be like golden dragons or treasure hoarders but yeah, they don't fit.

But Food could have a ton of weaknesses!
Fire could burn it!
Water could overboil it!
Rock/Earth could ground it!
Plant could spice it too much!
Magic could spoil it!
Air could bloat it!
Shadow could rot it!
(But i was just joking, i agree, Food should go. The type not real food, NO! MY SUBWAY SANDWICH! WHY DID I SAY FOOD SHOULD GO?!?!?)

P.S Regal could also be Flaming Sword wielding lions in red capes and stuff but... nah.

I think we need at least 2 useless move with really cool names, just to make players mad. I mean what's a game without irritation? BOOORRRINNG! So something like Meteor Charge! All it does is strengthen a Space BattlMon, LOL.
BTW i think Wiimaster [is it ok if i call you Nintendo?] forgot Dragon type, Dragon rules! Let's replace Sound with Dragon!

Ooh, i like the Zombify but some of these could make good Abilities. Like Zombify, Mindreader, and Countdown.

Zombify could be like an ability that affects the BattlMon that physically touches the one with that ability, making it slower and slowly draining its hit points.

Mindreader could predict the opponent's strongest move and the move you have that it is weakest against (that way it's better than Pokemon where some abilities just warn you of the opponent's strongest move)

And Countdown could be the ability of a select few rare BattlMon and Mysticals (Legendaries) mostly Space and Time type, where at the beginning of a battle, it is not active then, if you get hit by the same move several times it activates. In three rounds your BattlMon unleashes a powerful blast of every element, defeating your foe in one hit (if they're still alive) and just to make sure they're alive you can't use any moves for those three rounds while your opponent can only use their weakest attack.

If you need me to repeat that last ability please tell me, it's even hard for me to understand.
But i think Countdown would be a better attack now that i think of it. You guys choose, ability or attack?

So... we are doing abilities too? I don't really think we should copy too much directly from pokemon, but its your choice :S

Fire could burn it!
Water could overboil it!
Rock/Earth could ground it!
Plant could spice it too much!
Magic could spoil it!
Air could bloat it!
Shadow could rot it!
(But i was just joking, i agree, Food should go. The type not real food, NO! MY SUBWAY SANDWICH! WHY DID I SAY FOOD SHOULD GO?!?!?)

Exactly why food should go. You just said 'food would have a ton of weaknesses'- that's not a good thing. And some don't even make sense. Air bloating it? Shadow rotting it? Shadows don't make food rot, air does  tongue

I did not 'forget' it, I chose not to add it. I don't want to copy every type from pokemon. Dragon is a pretty unique type to pokemon, whereas Fire is kind of generic, so Fire is a shoe-in but we shouldn't add Dragon. And that doesn't mean we can't have Dragons, it just means there would not be a specific type to cater to them. The same goes for Bugs.

I'd like to get some move suggestions coming, I don't want to take over the entire project! Lets do the moves together  smile

Some questions-
Are there only going to be single types or will we incorporate dual typings?
Will there be some form of evolving or leveling up or does each Battlmon remain the same?
Will there be overworld or battle style sprites or both?
How many moves will each have at a maximum?
Do you catch them in the wild? If so, how?

1.) We can try dual typing, if all else fails, we'll just stick with single types.
2.) I had an idea that you could walk with the Battlmon you catch in specific places just for fun (like in Pokemon Diamond for example.) or maybe wherever you go. So, I'd say both battle sprites and overworld sprites.
3.) I was thinking of a limit of each type of move, you can have 3 stat changing moves (or stat moves I guess.  tongue ), 3 ranged attacks (like water gun), and 3 physical attacks (Like an all out tackle.)
4.) I was thinking you can catch Battlmon by running into ones or getting into a battlmon's line of sight, not just walking around and encountering one. Hard to explain, really but if you need an explanation I could give you an example.
I was also thinking you could get them by scuba diving (some sort of technique that needs some kind of gear, does that sound interesting? you can catch water/ocean/whatever types.  tongue ), fishing, or by trading (maybe we could have some kind of trading database in 2.0 with cloud data, more on that when it actually fully releases though.  tongue )

Also, I don't know what the battle interface will be like. I think you should have 3 choices in battle:

Attack - Use a stat, physical, or ranged move
Dodge - Dodge an attack (relies on evasive stats, you're better off just waiting for a dodge on luck  tongue )
Item - Use an item, pretty self explanatory
Give up (monster tamer/monster trainer battles only) - Admit defeat for whatever reason you have, but if you give up, it treats your battle as a defeat.
Run Away - Run away from a wild encounter. I was thinking of it relying on evasive stats, too.

That's good for now. You can work on wild encounter and battle themes later.
One thing - Most games (in my opinion) have really annoying evil team themes, I was thinking make it like battle music with a regular person, but a little bit more upbeat, and darker (or evil  tongue )

Would it be okay If I drew (a non sprite-y form.) of the main characters, maybe even suggest concept designs? Spriters can do the overworld forms of them, but I could do the designs in the intro of the characters.

Speaking of intro.. I want it to be different than just explaining what battlmon are and asking your name and if you're a boy or girl. But I can't think of anything interesting...  tongue
