Windows 8 & Surface discussion

Thread to discuss Microsoft's new OS, Windows 8. It has the most radical change since Win95 17 years ago.

Was at Staples today, the new Lenovo ThinkPad has a rotatable touchscreen specially for Win8. awesome.

Re: Windows 8 & Surface discussion

The Surface has its own kickstand, a keyboard costs $120. But you don't pay extra for the kickstand. It's built in. Apple might want to add that instead of focusing on just skinning it  over and over again and making it thinner, eh?

Hold on hold on. The whole point of Windows 8 is that it works perfectly fine whether you use touch, keyboard and mouse or a laptop touchpad. I use both of the last two and it works very well.

Also, there are two progs you can get that add the Start menu back (I call desktop apps progs).

I like Windows 8. I bought it a few days ago.
I think it's a step in the right direction for Microsoft, but I think it doesn't feel quite finished. Lots of people don't like the new Start screen, so Microsoft should do something to keep them happy. Maybe a mini, menu-sized version of the Start screen?

Why?  What would the point of the button be?  You've got your search button in the Gadgets menu, and Windows Explorer in the Desktop.  I feel that people don't seem to take the Destkop into account when they talk about Windows 8.  Anyway, I got a Surface for Hanukah from my grandparents.  Great tablet.  My only complaint is that there's no Google Chrome app, or really many apps in the Windows Store in general.  It is still new, though.  But that's just Windows RT.  The Surface Pro is coming soon anyway.

This one Dell notebook had a rotatable touchscreen before it was mainstream  sad

I'd totally use a touchscreen notebook. Maybe with Win8, I don't know. That fancy Start screen might be cool to have. But I'm too poor :c

Touchscreens weren't meant to be vertical. Your arm aches after a while, and you just revert to the mouse/touchpad  tongue

Re: Windows 8 & Surface discussion

my computer is upgrading to 8 right now, I'm having to retreat to my brother's computer until it's done. I really liked 7 and its more of a faster reskin than a new a complete new model as far as I know, so it should be nice for me.

hand in mine into your icy blues, and then i'd say to you we could take to the highway with this trunk of ammunition too, i'd end my days with you in a hail of bullets
