Hi,
This is my first shared Scratch effort.
It's a game/platform inspired by some of the great space exploration games.
It doesn't behave well on the website because I only just discovered that the stage cannot use a randomly selected background. You can still experience the gathering controls (WASD), buy/sell what you collect and upgrade that "star" ship. And when that starts feeling limited you could always add another star-map (or remake the one there with sprites!), and another spaceport, and maybe even add some way to have space-battles; give the ship weapons, or rework things so compounds, or even artifacts can be found. Or try something fun and less ambitious, like make the ship change when you upgrade it or create some music that changes depending on what is happening.
Downloaded, it's a fully playable game based around gathering elements on any of the worlds (or due to some oversight just about anywhere except the base and the Star)
I'll tweak it a few more times before moving on to the next game.
I'm still learning which is one of the enjoyable things about Scratch.
Thank you for any consideration.

Hey dude, I played it earlier and thought it was awesome. I added it to a gallery where a few people may check it out in time, check it out here http://scratch.mit.edu/galleries/view/186859

Would you like to have advertising for your game? If you add a short 8 seccond ad at the start of your game it is advertised in all of the other games that support ads. more info http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=111675

Fixed a simple bug and tonite/this morning the random planetary map issue also seems to be resolved with the Flash Project Player, so it looks like the game is working fine in the browser. As with all these things, YMMV.

Spaceport Gamma is experiencing FEEPING CREATURISM!
Spaceport Gamma now has:
-Compound collection contracts which are managed by the Contract Bot 30K
-an amazing vacuum travelling sound-effect for the Star-ship
-the Banana-cursor now displays the fuel-cost of travelling around the star-system
-and I even fixed a few bugs while potentially adding a lot more--chances are I may have even divided by ZERO (haha, just kidding I hope)
Marvel at the textual-judo of the Contract bot 30K! Don't worry, the safety protocols are enabled, only your REPUTATION as a Star-ship captain/merchant/carbon-based life-form are in any danger at all.
Bask in the faux economy of collecting Elements and Compounds and selling them for imaginary currency! And you better enjoy it while you can because I'm definitely going to add TAXES muahahahaha! (believe it)
Fly around on the imaginary worlds of Star-System Gamma in a FREE (yes free) Star-ship and work on your hyper-miling skills and upgrades between resource collection missions to make your Star-ship an unstoppable Magpie of intra-solar commerce! (cue the heroic music)
Enjoy!

All variable boxen have been eradicated!
-The in-system banana-cursor includes the amt of fuel you need to get to the cursor position, along with how much total fuel the ship has.
Now in addition to the Contract Bot 30k, I have enlisted the power of the Gobo's and the ever-helpful Statbot to replace all those unpositionable variable boxes in the "Sell your stuff" and "Buy our stuff" parts of the station.
Engine upgrades now reduce the fuel-cost and travel times between destinations, just like it should.
The next major changes will be:
A Sprite-based solar system with each world having it's own simple animation, it's own lists for elements and compounds specific to that world, and which surface maps the player will be flying around when they land.

BEHOLD SPACE-MINERS, ADVENTURERS, AND LAZY-FOLK (yes you too)
Spaceport Gamma is still a work-in-progress. Here is a summary of the changes I've made in the last few days along with scary foreshadow of what's to come.
-Replaced the solar-system map with a sprite-based map using some very nice looking Boonclaw procedurally generated world images. One day when I'm feeling inspired I might just tackle the mind-crushing joy and wonder of orbital dynamics to animate it--or just BS a facsimile of orbital dynamics and be happy.
-The System and its worlds now have names and with names and sweet-sweet images comes the addition of per-planet element/compound assignments. It's the dream we all dreamed of (ok, just me).
-And to make your brains all happier (mine included) I've beat the dead-horsey of planetary cloudscapes to create some contextually colored tablecloths we can all fly around on.
So with these self-imposed milestones behind me I can start developing damage control systems for the ship (she is a self-healer of sorts), a repair bay on the station (because credits are good for more than upgrades and buying fuel) and of course introduce a myriad of just unfair, random, and creatively horrible ways to die. And for extra style points none of them will have anything to do with Alien life-forms. I know, that's terribly boring, right? You were all probably expecting aliens. Big ones.
