Re: Bookworm Studio's Christmas Writing Contest :D

Harry's Christmas

I stared at the Christmas display in a window. “Why couldn’t my parents love me? Why couldn’t I have gone to the orphanage when I had a chance?” I mumbled, shivering under my tee and jeans. I decided to find a crawlspace and sleep there for Christmas Eve.
“Harry! There you are!” I turned at the familiar voice. Mint was pushing towards me. “Where’s your coat?” she asked.
“It got stolen,” I wished she didn’t have to stand there with her puffy coat and warm clothes. “Last spring.” Mint’s gaze was clouded with sympathy.
“Do you want to spend a few weeks at my house?” she asked. I smiled.
“Yes!” I answered confidently. Mint grabbed my hand and practically ran back to her house.
When they got there, Mint’s Dad greeted me with a smile. “Harry! How are you?” he hugged me warmly.
“Cold!” I grinned. He always made me feel welcome.
Mint led me into the kitchen, where she produced a cup of steaming hot cocoa. “Thanks.” I murmured and took a sip, burning my tongue. Mint then sat me down at the kitchen table.
“Will you join us for dinner?” her Dad asked. I nodded, and their whole family sat down too. Mint was on my left, and her Dad was on my right.
Their Dad said the prayer and we dug in. I stuffed myself with mashed potatoes, turkey, green beans, and apple pie with extra cinnamon. I was sitting at the table much longer than even Mr. Sanchi(Mint’s Dad) was. I hadn’t eaten so much for months!
I was soon so full I felt like I would barf. We settled down in front of the TV for A Charlie Brown Christmas. I smiled contentedly.
When the movie was over, Mint hurriedly made a stocking for me. “You didn’t have to!” I exclaimed.
“If I hadn’t, Santa wouldn’t know you were here and forget you!” she hung it over the crackling fire and the clock chimed 9 times.
“Time for bed!” Mr. Sanchi announced. We tiredly got ready for bed and retired.

“Christmas!” I heard someone squeal, waking me up. I groggily remembered where I was and headed downstairs. Mint was standing in front of the Christmas tree, beaming. Presents were piled under it.
Mr. Sanchi came down next, followed by Star. “G’morning!” he boomed. I jumped, startled by how quiet he had come down.
“Dad, can we open presents now? Can we can we?” Mint pleaded. Her Dad nodded and she started sorting them. My pile had several things in it. I beamed, more happy than measurable.

431 words. I would make it longer, but I only have 500 words  sad

Re: Bookworm Studio's Christmas Writing Contest :D

Christmas on a spaceship
_______________________

They sat in orbit around the planet. A routine check, nothing more. They had to stay there, observing the planets’ atmosphere, makeup, inhabitants and technology level for a whole week.
It was hell.
The beings below were apes. Nothing more, nothing less. They stank of ape, they ate like apes and they still thought electricity was pretty useful.
The scanners showed that the planet was at the coldest time of its’ huge 365 day year, and the precipitation had turned as white as crerlovian table flowers. Despite this, the apes appeared to be enjoying themselves, sliding down the amassed flakes of sky. Weirdoes.
It was all quiet that night, boring as usual. One of the ships inhabitants crossed off another day in their mission briefing. It told the computer the days report.
The apes were pinning their foot-coverings to their beds, nothing unusual, for them anyway.
It was quiet in the ship. Nothing happening. Nothing at all.
[Warning!]
The ship warbled, [Incoming vessel approaching!]
No, the computer must be glitching. Not normal, but at least that option was possible. The apes didn’t have space travel yet.
The aliens settled down again, when
SLAM
Everything went quiet.
There had been a vessel-the computer was right! A tiny thing, about 30 galaxian throdes long, powered by multiple non-sentient brown creatures, one with a most obscene aroma-sensing growth.
A fat ape in fur started prizing open the ship’s roof with its’ paws, also fur coated.
The roof eventually came off, but the ship’s shields held in the air. The ape came in shook itself. It was large, red faced, with naturally growing fur coming from just below its’ food entry point. it was grumbling menacingly about something, so the translators came on, when it started making audible noises with it’s food hole.
“I don’t think you’ve been very good this year,”it said.
The aliens looked confused among themselves.
“Bugging our planet, scanning them, thinking yourselves oh so high and mighty with your silly spaceship, floating around thinking we can’t see you. Silly twits.” The ape appeared most irritated.
“Oh i know what you’re thinking- silly ape, we can chuck it out the airlock and carry on what we were doing, before going away with your silly spaceship with your posh ‘light-speed engine’ and your oh high and mighty ‘energy scoops’ with your ‘quantum space converters’, oh i know what you’re thinking, but you aren’t getting rid of me- i’m going to fill your stockings, ho ho ho yes, I’m going to fill your stockings!!”
The ape looked menacing.
It stomped off.
Hysterics broke out in the control room then. The aliens hadn’t had something interesting in a week!
The ape left the ship, and the aliens were almost settled down when
BOOOM!
The ship blew up and they all died.
Santa had lodged a pile of sticks and coal in the engines.
Santa grinned. He had Europe next, his favourite bit. That would teach those aliens They wouldn’t come back in a hurry.

Hope you like it  smile  Merry christmas!

Re: Bookworm Studio's Christmas Writing Contest :D

Here's mine. It's a fail but ahh well  big_smile

I didn’t understand Christmas… All the hustle and bustle, the gluttony, the corporate greed! It just seemed so hypercritical that it “twas the season for giving” yet all over the world people were barely getting enough to eat.
Yet here I was, sitting, false smile plastered onto my face, at the generously laid dinner table, various sticky little relatives waving plastic little cracker toys around and stupid aunts and uncles reading stupid, annoying jokes . Why????  As soon as I could, I tried to escape, muttering the excuse of an after dinner walk.
The brisk, cold air was almost a relief after the stifling heat of indoors. As I trudged along the country lane, frosty leaves crunching underfoot, I sighed; once this stupid season was over I’d be much happier.
Stopping, I looked around- I had felt something! A movement or something. I glanced several times, searching for something. In the end I concluded it must have just been a bird. A little uneasy, I carried on walking, then, just as I reached the tiny stream ironically named “ Wide-Brook”, I saw her…
Whatever she was, it wasn’t human, her skin glowed with some strange unearthly presence, and her plain pearly dress and hair rustled in a wind that was not there. Her eyes, a palest shade of blue, glowed with an awesome power, and in her slender fingers there was a rose, it’s petals as pale as her eyes.
Frozen, I stood in fear and wonder, what was happening? The pale, unearthly girl, the angel, smiled faintly, and lifted the rose to her lips. She gently blew and the little petals twirled and twisted in the air, carried by a sudden whisper of wind. Then, in a voice quiet and gentle as butterfly’s flutter she whispered one word and as quickly as she had appeared she was gone; leaving the slightest scent of fresh snow and rose petals behind her.
I travelled home, shaken, confused, and pensive. As I made my way down the drive I had convinced myself that it must have just been a trick of the mind, it was the only possible explanation.
Then, later that night, as I got ready for bed, I turned out the pocket of my coat and laughed. There, surrounded by the fluff and bits of string that somehow always found their ways into my pocket, was a petal of palest blue. And I did as she told me, I believed…

Merry x-mas  big_smile

I gaze off into the boundless skyline, noteblock choirs playin in the sunshine, turn round pick up my sword and wield the blade that once forced evil mobs to yield, if this battle shall leave me slain, I know Herobrine still calls my name, better just take a stand, that was when I ruled the land.
