Re: Origami.

I like origami and am moderately good at it, but my limit is the origami daffodil, which I can barely make, but it still looks decent. I can also make an origami kaleidoscope flower.

Re: Origami.

How do you do that? Surely you need reflective paper and sequins? Do you make a tube then put the mirrors and sequins in and put on a lid thing?

My mistake. I actually meant kaleidoscope flower.

Re: Origami.

My mom does origami for a sort of part-time hobby that makes her money. Right now she's doing a moose. It looks kinda complex.

My mom learned origami from her mom who probably learned origami from her mom. And my mom's mom's mom could only speak Chinese and was alive until I was 6.

Re: Origami.

Here's a picture of some origami I have:

Actually I had made most of this. The big spherical-ish piece of origami in the back I had bought, but everything else I had made.

:3 Cool! I like your stuff better than the big sphere. ^u^

I've always tried origami, but I'm not that patient, so I always just give up. xD The only decent origami I've ever made is a lily flower with stamped paper I made. I think they showed me how to do it at some restaurant before.

Re: Origami.

I've made Satoshi Kamiya's ancient dragon, Joseph Wu's Warai, a dragon rider by somebody and lots of my own inventions such as Anubis etc.
The dragon rider and warai were from crease pattern. If you don't know what these look like, google image search them.

Have you tried David Lang's Black Forest Cuckoo Clock?
That's probably the limit of my folding experience.

It's Robert Lang... and that model gives me nightmares...

Very cool! Robert lang's brilliant. If you like geometric things, you should try his wave 24, if you can get the paper the right shape.

I once tried to fold a crane, but I folded a top hat by accident. I still wear it to this day.

Re: Origami.

???
Has anyone here read origami design secrets by Robert Lang?
It's meant to be really really good. Is it?
I'm on about the second edition.
Surely the 2nd edition is even better?
I really want to get it, but i don't know if it's worth while.

I have Origami Design Secrets Second Edition and I would say it's worth while to get it. The chapter on box pleating (or was it uniaxial box pleating?) was greatly expanded and the diagrams were improved. One of the chapters focused more on the math side was taken out though. There might be a few more thing that changed too, but I only have the
second edition.

I can do dark, haunting 3d impressions of modern society. Or in your case, crumpled up pieces of paper.

Nice! Are they modular?
I recently made hoang trunh thanh's swordsman. It is quite easy and is a very worthwhile model to make.
