Poems

Every term, we have to memorize a poem at my school.  This is one of my favorite ones.
Invictus
William Ernest Henly

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be,
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance,
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance,
My head is bloody but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears,
Looms but the horror of the shade.
And yet the menace of the years,
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the captain of my fate,
I am the master of my soul.

Re: Poems

Nothing Gold Can Stay

by Robert Frost

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

probably my favorite poem.

An ode to Scratch:

Double-click the icon
Entering the cyberspace
Time to begin cognition
In a whole new place

Type in a command
You can create or destroy
Be the all-powerful hand
The world is your toy

Time to watch it run
Smooth and awe-inspiring
Get a feeling of satisfaction
Time to continue coding

Forever adding lines
Never reaching any borders
Nor hitting any confines
In this land of computers.

Re: Poems

I love poems.

Has anybody read "The Highwayman"?

"Look for me by moonlight,
watch for me by moonlight,
I'll come to thee by moonlight,
though hell shall bar the way."

It's a creepy love poem that turns into a ghost story. Pretty interesting.
