Has anyone read Lewis's Space Trilogy? It changed my look on him and it was very good.

Undoubtedly, Tolkien was a masterful writer, but I prefer C.S. Lewis, mainly because of the Space Trilogy.

Apparently, Lewis loved Tolkien's work, but Tolkien despised the Chronicles of Narnia. He wasn't a fan of allegory.

Tolkien. He wrote LOTR as a pursuit of his hobbies mapmaking and language creation. This evolved into the world's greatest epic fantasy. CS Lewis was good, but both his writing skill and creativity were dwarfed (no pun intended) by Tolkien. Tkien created about 10 fully fleshed out races, countless folk legends, and at least 4 languages to incorporate into his story. CS Lewis had about 7 new races and not anything else, unless you count half-explained ides. QED
