Advanced Scratch OS

I am making an OS in Scratch. My goal is to make it advanced enough that I can do anything I need in this operating system. I may need to use Panther, though I am hoping to keep in Scratch. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Advanced Scratch OS

Make a scripting language, and some way of manipulating graphics using it (like pen blocks). If the language is Turing-complete, there's little you can't do.

Good idea. I'll try to do that.

Cool! When will it come out?

I have a suggestion. Make plenty of apps for the operating system.

Re: Advanced Scratch OS

Yes, I like the scripting idea, that way people can make small programs.  smile  One thing that I've always been fascinated by, was a web-browser or something in it. Though to make mini-websites would either require updating the project a lot, or saving the mini-websites onto a website and get the contents from there, though that would require Panther ( or some other Scratch Mod ). But it would be cool if you made it and I would be willing to help.  smile

Re: Advanced Scratch OS

Great ideas. I'll make a development thread. I'll post updates on that thread.

Re: Advanced Scratch OS

I really think you'll need a Scratch mod for it, and preferably even not making it in Scratch. IMO you need better class organization for an OS with a programming language, and better speed. Scratch offers neither.

Good luck nonetheless, and I hope this turns out well  smile

Re: Advanced Scratch OS

Neat! I'd actually had the same idea! I've been working on an OS that has a programming language built into it. That way people will be able to write their own apps without ever leaving the project!

Re: Advanced Scratch OS

Yeah, that post is quite related to the topic  tongue

The idea of retrieving webpages using a Scratch mod is wonderful.  big_smile  Interpreting and rendering simple HTML should be possible with a mod, maybe Panther.

Re: Advanced Scratch OS

In Scratch 2.0, you can make a "web browser" and maybe an "app store" for an OS lol.
