Displaying IP Addresses

Why isn't your IP address displayed at the bottom of the page for the forums when it does on the main site?

Re: Displaying IP Addresses

That's because the forums are actually on a separate software installation.

Yes. I'm wondering that too. It doesn't serve a purpose.

It's there as a way for user to determine the IP address they are using to log into Scratch if a network problem arises. While it is true that there are websites out there that can also figure out your IP address, it's often easier to ask a Scratcher to read the numbers found at the bottom of the screen than it is to tell them to search for such website.

But if they were on the forums and needed to know their IP, and their IP was dynamic, they would never be able to know it.  hmm

Unless the IP was a very rapidly changing IP address, then the address of the network you use to access the forums is the same as on the main site.

It would be very, very weird if the IP is so dynamic that it would change every few pages or so. Is that is what is happening in your case? If so, then it sounds like something is up with your connection.

Yes. It changes at every refresh of a page or a load.

I sometimes have that problem at school. It cycles between a few IP addresses.

Mine never seems to be the same.  hmm
