McAfee Outlaw

So the guy who made McAfee, which is basically an antivirus company, is under suspicion for murder by the Belizean police. McAfee is on the run as an outlaw and claims he's not guilty on his blog and stuff.

Recently he uploaded a picture from his mobile phone, which had exif data about his location, which was actually faked to lead the police on a false trail.

I think that was pretty smart, and this case is worth following.

I'm not sure if he's innocent or guilty, but he claims that the Belizean police are scheming against him or something about a conspiracy.

So what do you think?

I could believe that... I never really liked their antivirus software anyway.

Re: McAfee Outlaw

He's not "under suspicion" officially; all they've said is that he's a "person of interest".

Yes, but you can make that inference.

Re: McAfee Outlaw

Did you mean "not guilty" instead of "not innocent"?

I've also heard this story. It is pretty interesting

Re: McAfee Outlaw

I've only just heard about this o: (as in, reading this thread  tongue ) I don't know. The end. For me, atleast.

But I think the McAfee person didn't murder anyone, I mean, the world is derived of more good than evil. It's hard to think of someone who does that kind of thing as a killer, I have to say.

I'm back.
Maybe.

McAfee is a failure in security....
In other words, it doesn't work.

Well if you wanted honesty, that's all you had to say. I never want to let you down or have you go, it's better off this way.

Re: McAfee Outlaw

I never get why people go on the run.
If they're not guilty, they have nothing to worry about.
Running makes you the prime suspect, because now you proved to the police that you're hiding something.

I'd say he's not guilty of murder, but he's guilty of something else, maybe drugs.
Or maybe I just watched too many episodes of Psych...

Even having them interested in you means you have something to worry about. Who says that they'll get the right man?

Re: McAfee Outlaw

I've been reading about this on gizmodo. The way I understand, he was being interviewed for something and the reporters weren't good enough to remove the exif data, causing them to need to relocate, and cutting him off from reporters for a while.

@toby: I definitely wouldn't say that an innocent person has nothing to worry about. In a perfect world with a perfect justice system, you wouldn't. But people make mistakes in the courtroom. And you don't want one of those mistakes to end your life.
Also he definitely abused drugs, although other countries aren't as strict as the Uited States, I'm not sure what the specific laws are in Belize.

You hardly ever hear of the murderer killing the guy next door though
I mean the guy next door is always the one on the news all, "Man I always thought he was cracked"

I heard that around 30% of criminals in US jails are actually innocent.
