Scratch

I am making a game called One Way Home for a school project but also for the community to see too - basically, it is where there is a boy called Lucas who is one a lonely small world. He needs to escape - there is only one way home (hence the name of the game). However, I need ideas why he would want to go home so quickly.

I would like to draw most of the sprites however, I can only use Scratch drawing pad thing (Can anyone teach me how to use Gimp effectively?)

Anyway, my intial idea was characters from the Scratch sprites but turn most of them evil. Any other ideas that I could be able to draw would be very much appreciated.
