Some people are reporting that they are still having to log in very often. The session should last 15 days, I think this could be a problem specific to some browsers. Please respond these 3 questions to help us figure out this mystery:
1. What operating system do you use?
Example: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X, Ubuntu Linux.
2. What browser do you use?
Example: Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 7,Internet Explorer 6, Safari, Camino, Opera.
3. How often do you have to login to the website? This is how often do you have to put your username and password? Examples: "I get disconnected every five minutes! it's so annoying" or "I don't have to log in for days."
Thanks a lot for your help.

1. Windows XP (to get specific, I use Media Center Edition)
2. Firefox 2(.0.0.9)
3. I rarely log on. Most of the time I don't need to log on. I can't remember the last time I got logged off, without me doing it manually.
Glad to help!

I don't have problems with being logged off any more, but the "show new posts since last visit" feature often fails while I'm in the middle of reading posts, so that hitting the "back" button on the browser to get back the list results in a much shorter list.
There is often no way to recover the messages, since the "show recent posts" option only does one screenful.
I would prefer a system that actually kept track of the posts I had read (even if only in my browser), so that I could see which messages were new, even if I have been away for a few days or my reading was interrupted when I was only half way through the new messages.

Yeah, I should look more into the new punbb plug-ins to see if that's possible Kevin (or implement it internally). You have a Mac, right? What version of Mac OS do you have and what browser do you use?
Offline
1. Mac OS 10.4.8
2. Firefox 2 mainly, sometimes Safari
3. This explains the mystery. I've often come back to the site a few days after logging in and find I am still logged in. Now I know why. I've never gotten a disconnect notice. I have the impression I end up logging in again before 15 days has passed but couldn't prove it.

I run firefox 2.0.0.9 on a Mac OS 10.3.9 (G5) machine at home, but a different version of firefox on a CentOS Linux machine at work. I currently use both machines for moderating the scratch forums, but I would switch to using just the machine at home if that would allow me to keep better track of which messages I had already looked at.

The Scratch website automatically disconnects you after a certain amount of time (fifteen days, I think).
