My brother at Harvard also lost power.
It's good that it's all back, though.

It's crazy - we never even lost power through two hurricanes. But then old Nstar goes to upgrade their transmission lines, and poof! Down for like 6 hours.

Greetings all!
Most of Cambridge, MA had a bad power outage this afternoon - still not sure why.
Unfortunately, that meant our servers went down as well. We had auxilliary power come online soon afterwards, but the servers don't like being shut down without warning, so they took a little coaxing from Vladimir, our resident server ninja.
So: Sorry for the outage! We've got things up and running again, so thanks for being patient and ...
(how else could I end this post?)...
Scratch On!
very punny lightnin

Me three! Stupid AP Social Studies studying! XD
Also, I was hoping that the outage (before that temporary page was posted) meant that the Scratch team was updating the website for Scratch 2.0. Too bad. I'm still waiting for that November update!

Nice. Doesn't sound good.
By the way, It is pretty easy to download scratch 2.0 with out being on the test team (according to my friend).

At first, I was going 'OMG 2.0!!!' because it said on the picture that they were doing work on the site, then a few seconds later I saw that it said it was a power outage.
Thanks for the false hope for a few seconds!
Glad the power outage is over though
exactly what I was thinking.

Nowadays, whenever the website is down, I am like "YES! 2.0 is finally here!"

Sadly, that's still not happening until sometime next year (or more like 2061 )
I'm sure we can roll out 2.0 way before 2061! If not, I won't be around to see it - unless I can live to over 100

I was hoping more in the region of Scratch 4.0 (at least) by 2061.

It's a bad running joke I've started on the forums, because of the first announcements of 2.0 a few years ago saying it would come out what I think is something like 1 year ago.

Once, the power went out for a few hours because of a snake that got into the substation.
Recently, my school lost power in one of the buildings because a bird landed on a transformer.
Yeah, power outages happen very easily sometimes.

That's why I saw the server having a 503 problem thingy.

hi, I actually go to school in a local prep school near cambridge and our power went out too. I was told by the school that the system needed some work because of Hurricane Sandy but it took longer than they expected to fix it.

One time a raccoon chewed a powerline near my school and the power went out in the middle of the school day. (EARLY SCHOOL RELEASE YAY!)
