Hiya Scratchers!

We're working on a section for the Scratch 2.0 homepage that's specifically designed for new users - sort of like the "Welcoming committee" section that new users see on their my stuff page on the old (current) site.

One part of that section is called "Meet a Scratcher." When the new Scratcher clicks it, they get sent to a project made a member of the Welcoming Committee. We thought it might be nice if that section had 5 or 6 real-life Scratcher icons that are particularly welcoming and friendly.

So: Are there any icons, used by Scratchers, that you can recommend we show new users?
We're looking for stuff that's:

* Friendly, welcoming, interesting.
* Representative of the diversity of the Scratch community (as in animators, gamers, artists, simulators, the whole shebang).

So - can you recommend some Scratchers (and their icons) that might work well? We'll ask for permission if we use them. smile

i like the idea a lot but i'm not to sure what you mean by icons... user icons or icons with words and phrases on them?

Yep! User icons (or avatars) - like the examples people have posted upthread.

Thanks for offering! But if the icon is not made by you, it might not be wise for us to use it. (Although, it's fine if you do!) There are copyright laws that should make it ok for you to use, but probably wouldn't make it ok for us to use an image from a cartoon or product.

You know - we think there's some kind of glitch in the thing that decides where to send people. sad It doesn't seem really random. Luckily, once we move to Scratch 2.0, it should be fixed!
