I thought it was established that it really didn't matter in these kind of discussions

Try Python, it's really easy.
(Psst, and free too)
I can use:
Python
Scratch (uhhh)
PHP
And, the obvious markups, HTML and CSS.

I know: Lua, C++ (small ammount), Python (smaller ammount than C++), FORTH (Blame RedPower Computers, I had to teach myself FORTH to use them ), and some others. I'm currently working on my Lua understanding, even though it's the language I know most.
Also, I know the Scratch languages! (Namely Scratch, Panther and BYOB, and a TEEEENY TEEENY ammount of Squeak. The only code in it I know is 'self beep.'.)

Which language do you recommend to learn after Scratch?
I'd say Lua. It's close to Scratch, and it's easy to learn. The best place to learn it with a representation of things is ROBLOX, in my opinion. That's where I learned it!

I learned that before scratch when I was about 9. Then I forgot it...

I feel so compelled to post this now:
If Programming Languages Were Essays:
