That's the question people have been wondering for years. If it's a show and tell thread, they usually don't get replies. Instead, people go and leave comments on the project.

It depends on the forum and the topic being discussed. In the RaP forum if people can relate to your topic there is a good chance they will post. While in the Help with Scripts forum if you post a topic you there is a huge chance that someone will post to help solve your problem.

It really depends on the forum. Some forums don't get visited as often and don't get many replies.

Yeah... i agree with you. The RaP forum gets a lot more comments then the suggestions or show and tell form.

Okay. I need to explain something to you. You realize that you are one in several million Scratchers right? And me inferring that each one of those Scratchers have posted a thread on the forums. So that's a lot of posts. Only the real famous Scratchers or the best threads get a lot of replies. So you shouldn't complain. Instead, bump your posts, get more famous, or think of more constructive threads. Complaining is not going to get you anywhere. In fact, this post might make people less want to view your threads. Hope you change your view.
Edit: Plus, you only have 18 posts. Even me, with 1389 posts as of 11/25/2012, I still don't get much replies.

Some people could be busy with other things.
Or, as stated above, it could be a Show & Tell thread, and those usually don't get replies, rather comments on the project(s)/gallery you advertised.
But a way to attract people to your topic is a title that's strait to the point, not completely random and off-topic (That's not allowed anyway, but still.).
