Why wouldn't it belong? It's is about creating something, isn't it? So long as it focuses on the creation of the newspaper and doesn't turn into a discussion about the news, it should fit.

Okay but i think i'll delete it since most of the suggestions are either global news, things that haven't reached my ears, or are just not fit for a newspaper for tweens. Besides, if i make too much news and too many stories it might overload my printer's ink and i don't like making huge stories since one of my friends is dyslexic....

Oh, and i'm not gonna write about the fighting in the Middle East cause i don't really think i should write about it. Especially since the my friends and i are ages 9-13

I'm in the 9-13 range, and I'm still interested in it (mostly because I have family in Israel...).

If you don't want to do conflict in the middle east, maybe write about the effects of Hurricane Sandy on some of the east coast towns.

Or again, get some news from a local paper from a random town...

Yeah, well my dad might not want me writing that in my paper and my friends might find it boring. Also, three of them want me to write weekly stories (continuing in every edition) only i want to be an author and i don't want to go and write a potentionally good story just for them to find a way to use it themselves.... ALthough that's kind of unlikely...
