Actually, the real question is the feasibility of transferring the post count to the new system. A lot of people keep insisting that there is a tool to transfer all the old forum post aspect to the new one, thus giving the assumption that the transition to the new forums is going to be easy. The reality of the situation is that it isn't because the code beneath the forum is complex (both the old and the new one), and a lot of things are easier said than done. If the transfer is complex, then restarting fresh is going to be a lot better than dealing with potential bugs with a transitioning process (so yeah, more benefits than losses. ).
Maybe there aren't many tools that allow you to transfer such specific aspects of FluxBB to other forums. However, it really only takes half an hour to develop a script that retrieves all the post counts from the old database and assigns them to the new one according to the username. I've seen many half hours wasted by the Scratch Team on more trivial and useless issues, so why not spend some more on something that will make the community happier?
Getting the bugs fixed for Scratch 2.0 is trivial and useless?
No, but adding useless features to the online editor is.

If the features for the online editor were supposedly useless, then the Scratch Team would not have bothered with adding them.

yeah, i really don't think the features they're adding to the editor are useless
because you're seeing it in development (although they told you not to!) they are still changing and rearranging a lot of things, deciding what is useful and what isn't so as to make the final version as good as they can

For the record, I'm probably going to start off with 30-ish posts because I'm helping test it, but that's not influencing whatever I say here. So there.
IMO to many Scratchers, the forums are a second home, and we're all used to it. I'm used to looking at posts by sparks, LS97, nXIII, MathWhizz, bharvey, Jens, xly, Sci, and lots others because I know that they are experienced Scratchers and their posts will be informative and generally not about ponies/wolves/whatever it is you guys are discussing over at the Misc. forums now. And I think their status as Scratch Veterans is not just because of their content, but also he fact that they've got a nice, shiny '1000+' badge, and their registration is a few years ago. So in my opinion, a post count is a useful way to judge people, and should be retained.

but then new scratchers would be like "where even are those posts"

I really couldn't care less about post counts.
However, a lot of time, hard work, and effort has been put into these forums.
I'm glad that if they're closed that they'll be archived, unlike the TBGs.
But it will take a long time for people to re-make topics (from say MaC or RaP) in the new forum.
However, I have an idea. Would it be too much to have two forums; a Scratch 2.0 one and a Scratch 1.4 one (this one).
Because if they're archived they might as well be kept open.

Well, then can't they just automatically make everyone who has 1000+ posts (now), and have been on the site for over a year, an "experienced scratcher"?
Then, for the new site, it'll go for when you get 500+ posts (because you probably know, if you have good posts, it takes a while to get a lot), and have been registered on the scratch website for over a year, you become an "experienced scratcher".
My thoughts on this: So what? If a thread is really that important, you can just ask for it to be moved over. The only thing that really matters is being a good scratcher. The past, won't matter. If it matters to you that every single record of you being on this site is transferred over, then you have a serious ego issue, because not a lot of people will be/are stalking out your posts to see if you were/are a good scratcher, and then bringing it up in a thread.

OK I think that I have a legit point here, couldn't this mess up collaborations? I mean say I was collabing with someone and then the fourms reset. As far as I know there is no privae messages in 2.0, and it might be hard for the other people to find the new fourm thread.

The post counts won't even be shown at all (not even the 100+, 500+ or 1000+ things).

Guys, cool it. If we know that we are good Scratchers, then there is no need to prove it. The world will know it in a some way or other. Plus you guys are the world class gang of Scratchers. So if you guys think that this forum will be gone, you can just copy-paste it . Plus if you are great or 'experienced Scratcher' that will be known by your projects not by forums. You can do like this - in new forum edit your signatures, make them like saying 1000+posts on old forum .
I think that 'If you know it, the world shows it, and no one forgets it'

Yes, you will remain a Scratcher, everyone.
I thought you had more posts then that?
Well I guess I'll have to make a new collab topic for The 10th Dimension. And if I choose to restart my signature shop.
