My Theory of Time

I have had this theory for a while, and I want to see what you think of it.

Ahem.  I call my theory "Book Theory", and this is how it goes:
Every event that has ever taken place is still going on; it's like a book.  How so?  Every little detail from the smallest fraction of a second is "written" in it's "pages" from the beginning of the universe (and possibly before) to now and still going.  The fact of it being like a book is simple; you can go back to the beginning, skip to the end, or keep going at a constant rate (traveling through time); so every event is still happening.  BUT, if you rip a "page" out (keep an event from happening or changing an event), the rest of the book from then on is forever changed; no part is the same.

What are your thoughts on this?

Re: My Theory of Time

Is that a theory?  Or a simile?

A little of both.  I use the book as a metaphor for time to give you an idea on my theory.

Re: My Theory of Time

yeah thats more of a metaphor for whats already considered true
what youre saying is changing one event anywhere in history will alter the rest
this isnt a theory, this is accepted fact

Then that would be considered an axiom.  But the rest would probably be considered a theory.

Wouldn't a logical assumption still be considered a theory since it cannot be proven?  What do you think of the rest?

it doesnt matter if it can be proven or not, its common sense that changing one thing could change everything else
i dont quite understand what you mean by "the rest"

Read post above yours.

The parts about being able to go to any other point, as well as events are stil happening.

how about instead of explaining it in metaphors you give it to me straight forward because frankly i cant tell what exactly it is that youre presenting

Alright:

Every event that has ever happened and will happen is still happening right now (theoretically).

Ack...  I dunno how to explain it any other way than metaphorically...

Alright, I'll use a different metaphor (sorry, but bear with me here):
It's like fastforwarding through a movie or rewinding through a movie, in a sense; you go back, it's the same.  You go forward, it will be the same.  Nothing changes no matter how you spin it, except in time, every event is still happening no matter what.

That better, or would you like me to further explain?

is there any reasoning behind this? why do you suppose time functions this way?

It just seems to make sense to me this way.  It seems illogical to me for an event to just happen and just go by, like nothing happened and nothing seemed to matter except to learn from experiences.  If anything, it seems as though once events have passed, it has to keep happening (in my opinion) or it never did.  See where I'm coming from?

i dont see any sort of logic in that but you can just keep on believin what you want to believe
