Does anyone have an idea for a storyline?
•Why is the robot is fighting in the arena/area?
•Where is the arena/area?
•Who/what is the robot?How about:
The robot is an escaped prototype that killed his creator and is now trying to escape the complex laboratory he is trapped in.Sounds good.
Well, I was thinking it would be based more on this game:
http://www.gamegecko.com/game/480/bot-arena-3
It should be an arcade style game set in the future. Robot fighting rings have become a popular pastime. You build robots then fight them. The difficulty gets harder as you go on.

I can't say I agree. The game shown lacks the creativity and graphics I think our project should have. Upgrading should definitely be included, and I do like the idea of an arcade game, but I did not enjoy the example shown.

Yeah, i know. I was saying it should be in that style. I didn't exactly mean with graphics such as that. It'll have waaaaaaay more stuff, better graphics and such things, but as far as gameplay goes, I like the style.

I don't really like the arcade style, because it doesn't really have a story to it, and so it's not as exciting. If we add a plot to the game, it keeps the players interested.

View the updated version of STAR project artwork, I made an animated sprite. I agree, there should be a storyline.

*-_- Yes, a storyline would be fine, but the problem there is the fact that a storyline is actually harder to code. Also, if you check the front page from time to time, there's usually quite a few arcade games-few of these have storylines. If you guys want a storlyine, then that's fine.
However, while we can have it set in a laboratory, maybe it's an 'open world' scroller? You can go anywhere in the lab you want, BUT much of the way is sealed by doors which you have to win arena fights (which are usually close to the doors(you can go back and replay the arena if you want to)) to open. How about that?

Now I REALLY like that! That way, you could fight a certain boss or enemies as many times as you want, so it will also last longer, if the player wants to beat the levels again.

Yeah! That sounds nice! And there is an end door somewhere that leads out of the lab and ends the game. Then, if we want, we can make a part 2 where the robot is outside, running from police and their robotic dogs! But, let's not get ahead of ourselves, and focus on this project.

Does our robot have a name? Or is it nameless?
(Here are my name ideas: Argon, Meta... I'm not good at this..)
Or the robot finds himself in a new, outside area, that is actually just another part of the lab. XD

I like Argon. We could change it to Argon 6 to make it sound cooler.

But then what would we call number 2 if we made it? Argon 62? XD
I like the name Argon too, though.

Can the player choose to name the robot, but random suffixes and prefixes are added afterwards? Eg. SUFFIXES: Tron, Bot, 9000, Force PREFIXES: Catalytic, XYM, Charged, Sniping.
EDIT: OOOOOHHHHHHH that gives me a good idea!!!! How about your power is randomly selected, so you can be long range, your weapons are stonger or you reduce the powers of enemies? Sound good?

By the way Argon is the third most common gas on the planet... If we were to set a specific name, it should be something rare, for example Iridium. (I still like my above idea, but I am willing to go for anything at the moment )

That's true, but Argon is a good robot name. I can't say Iridium is suiting, in my opinion at least. As for the above idea, if I named my robot "Bot" and got athe prefix "bot" it wouldn't sound great. See what I mean? Anyway, the random strengths sound OK... But it would be unfair among the players.

I can create multiplayer scripts (best with chatting scripts) that also include chat history. I can also come up with ideas and check for glitches, recommending a fix in the process. I hope I can join STAR.
P.S. - I really watch out for those common math errors

Maybe you can change the strengths at a shop...for a price. However the starting power is stronger than a purchased power, even for one of the same category.

I don't think we should do the 'naming your robot' idea. I think we should just come up with a name for the character and use it. I still like "Argon." It sounds really cool.
I had an idea for a modular, simple robot design that is perfect for our purposes. I shall draw and upload it tomorrow. You guys are gonna love it, it's awesome.
