This film looks brilliant!!! I remember listening to the songs years ago, and I still love them. I'm definitely going to see this when it comes out! It could well replace Great Expectations as my favourite story ever.

I plan on reading the books. I'm not sure if I'll read them in English, or their original French. I'm also currently watching the 25th anniversary musical, and I love it! Have you read the books?
Btw, your link doesn't work.

No, I haven't read the books or seen the musical, but my mum showed me the trailer for this I'm really looking forward to it. I might watch the musical if I can find it, but I think I'd prefer to watch the film first.
I fixed the link now.

I know parts of a couple of the songs from the musical.

I know a lot of people bash watching a film before reading a book, but I think it sometimes really helps if the book in question is a classic, as they can be quite hard to read. I've been meaning to read Les Misérables for quite a while, so hopefully I'll round to it soon.
I've never actually seen any other musicals - do you have any recommendations?

I like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. We're planning to see it live.
