It doesn't take a ton of research to find out that Slendeman DIDN'T come from Slender.

not many people watch a video, say "i need to find out where this character came from" then try and figure out said character's origins
anyway, what's to keep them from assuming that slenderman didn't come from slender? there are no indications in the game that slenderman was somebody else's idea so for somebody just introduced to the character through slender gameplay videos it is reasonable to think that slenderman came from slender
